  2. Kick-offpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

    South Africa 0-0 Ireland

It's a Springboks kick-off and Devin Toner is taken out in the air, handing Ireland a soft penalty...

  3. Players out and singingpublished at 15:57

Ireland take to the field to a very muted reception at Newlands, where it looks rather chilly. Not so for the Springboks, for whom the place goes berserk. CJ Stander, Ireland's number six, is playing against a fair few of his old team-mates today - he was a captain of South Africa Under-20s.

  5. All change for Irelandpublished at 15:43

Ireland coach Joe Schmidt has lost the muscle of Cian Healy, Sean O'Brien, Peter O'Mahony and Josh van der Flier from his pack, with Tommy Bowe, Simon Zebo, Rob Kearney and Johnny Sexton among the other casualties.

Jackson and Luke Marshall have been drafted into the backs, while their Ulster team-mate Jared Payne switches from his regular centre role to his club position of full-back.

  7. Springbok pressurepublished at 15:37

The Springboks have not lost at Newlands since 2008 and never against Ireland on South African soil. Ireland have won five of 22 Tests against South Africa, but four of the last six. Plenty of pressure for new South Africa head coach Allister Coetzee, who is charged with updating his side's style of play, while hooker Adriaan Strauss leads his country for the first time.

  9. Jackson to the fore?published at 15:30

Hello. The third match on the menu today is South Africa versus Ireland in Cape Town. Ireland have never won Test in South Africa, while their preparations were rumbled by the withdrawal of Jonathan Sexton. In place of Sexton, Ulster's Paddy Jackson will start at fly-half and will no doubt be targeted by the Springboks.

  10. On to Melbournepublished at 13:23

Right, what promises to be a crackerjack of a three-Test series moves on to Melbourne next weekend. Eddie Jones will want to wrap things up early. Keep picking Itoje, and he won't go wrong - the Saracens man has won every game he's started so far this season. We're wrapping this up now but will be reheating things at 15:30 BST for South Africa-Ireland, which kicks off at 16:00. Selector.

England head coach Eddie Jones: "We've come to win the series so we're focused on next week already. We showed real grit and we had a real plan with which we could beat Australia. They took us by surprise with their pace at the start and it took us time to adjust. I tell the players there are 23 of them in the squad and that's why I made the decision early in the game [to replace Burrell with Ford]."

Maddy Raman: That's fantastic. Test won, hard kick but Farrell still makes it. We're England, lads. It's not supposed to be this good.

Mathew Bevis: James Haskell is an absolute machine. All over the pitch, tackling anything Australian that moved!

  14. Figuring things outpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

England fly-half Owen Farrell: "It was pretty special to some over here and come away with the win. The key was sticking to our plan, figuring things out and adapting while we were on the go. We were pretty relentless at times. We'll go to Melbourne and see if we can improve."

Marcus Richards: Pulsating rugby - Itoje great, Farrell with superb kicking but James Haskell MOTM with an immense display.

Rob Spragg: The heavyweight rugby analogy is so apt. Well done England. Gutsy stuff against a wonderful opposition

Stephen Fenn: Fair one I am on holiday in Tenerife but gutted to miss that England performance! #bbcrugby, external helped keep me abreast of the situation though!

    Stirling Mortlock
Former Australia international on BBC Radio 5 live

"After that try by Nowell, most of the players on the pitch were out on their feet. You have to give credit where credit is due. The game plan was fantastic and, more importantly, the English kept their defensive nerve."

  18. 'Why change the pack?'published at 13:07 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

    Australia 28-39 England

    Matt Dawson
2003 World Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 live

"I don't know whether they'll be making any changes to the first team to win out there for 13 years. It was great impact from the bench, they bought a pace and intensity to it. The forwards were dominating by the end so why change things?"

  19. 'Hartley is imposing'published at 13:06 British Summer Time 11 June 2016

    Australia 28-39 England

    Paul Grayson
    Ex-England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

"Dylan Hartley is an imposing figure in the middle of that scrum and he gets people to perform around him. In the latter stages of the game, when England needed to squeeze, they had the edge."

"Tactically we were found wanting in the match, but having said that England were found wanting with their discipline. But it was a phenomenal performance. Eddie Jones, 7-0 for England. You've got to be happy with that, haven't you?"
