  1. Missed penalty (Jackson)published at 40 mins

    South Africa 3-19 Ireland

As if Ireland need to be handed any more penalties - but South Africa oblige. Francois de Klerk loses his head and comes in from the side on Conor Murray at a ruck.

It's way out left and it's Paddy Jackson's first pointless effort. Hard lines matey.

Elton Jantjies should have been punished for another rubbish kick from hand - but Andrew Trimble knocks on while jumping for it.

Has Devin Toner gone over? There may be a knock-on...

    It's given. Huge for Ireland!

Lwazi Mvovo finds himself in the wrong postcode under a high kick. Andrew Trimble tries to get on to it - it looks like he knocks on but it's off his head, so it's all good.

Jared Payne almost gets to the line but stumbles, only for Ireland to recycle and Toner powers through.

Paddy Jackson doesn't miss kicks today - nails it.

  4. Missed penalty (Jantjies - twice)published at 33 mins

    South Africa 3-12 Ireland

I don't want to tempt fate, but South Africa look horribly blunt.

It goes through the hands but they barely get over the gain-line. Rory Best wins a wonderful turnover, only for it all to be scuppered by Andrew Trimble.

He comes over the top and holds on to the leg of Francois de Klerk, but Elton Jantjies pushes the penalty against the left upright.

The Bok 10 gets another go though as Devin Toner fails to roll away. This one is even worse - it floats left of the posts.

  5. Penalty (Jackson)published at 29 mins

    South Africa 3-12 Ireland

    Naughty, naughty Springboks.

JP Pietersen does not release and they give way another penalty. From about 40m, way out on the left, Paddy Jackson uses the altitude to his advantage and sends it through the posts.

    South Africa 3-9 Ireland

South Africa's kicking from hand has been wayward at best - and it's a point of frustration for the Ellis Park faithful.

This time it's Elton Jantjies putting it straight down the throat of Paddy Jackson.

Francois de Klerk hits a better one and Andrew Trimble does well to deal with it despite Damian de Allende bearing down on him.

  7. Penalty (Jackson)published at 24 mins

    South Africa 3-9 Ireland

Crikey. Ireland blast through the South Africa scrum like a blow torch pointed at candy floss.

They have to infringe to stop it - and Paddy Jackson gets another go from the tee. Three from three for the 10.

  8. Postpublished at 22 mins

    South Africa 3-6 Ireland

Ireland might have watched Eddie Jones' England earlier. The Irish have put up an iron curtain along their 22 - Springboks keep boinging back off it like a cartoon character trying to carry a sideways shotgun through a doorway.

It all gets a bit frantic as South Africa fail to claim a high one - then Conor Murray's clearance is charged down, only for Jared Payne to get him out of trouble.

After all that, it's an attacking Ireland scrum.

  9. Postpublished at 20 mins

    South Africa 3-6 Ireland

Stern, stern defence from Ireland. Robbie Henshaw stands as firm as a rock and the ball escapes Springbok hands.

  10. Postpublished at 19 mins

    South Africa 3-6 Ireland

Ireland seem to nod off as Elton Jantjies box kicks into a herd of green shirts - only for Willie Le Roux to come out with the ball. Conor Murray doesn't roll away and South Africa go to the corner.

Andrew Priestley: Paddy Jackson looks unflappable. He had a great season for Ulster this year, he's really matured as a all-round player.

  12. Penalty (Jackson)published at 16 mins

    South Africa 3-6 Ireland

Paddy Jackson shows a first sign of weakness by getting a clearance wrong. He's let off the hook though - South Africa offside. And Jackson ignores the heckling from the Johannesburg crowd to slot over from just inside Springbok territory.

    South Africa 3-3 Ireland

South Africa play the ball on the ground on the Ireland 22 - another penalty against the hosts. And Ireland kick to touch to relieve the pressure.

  14. Penalty (Jackson)published at 11 mins

    South Africa 3-3 Ireland

Ireland win a penalty after Francois Louw fails to roll away - superb carrying from Iain Henderson into the tackle.

It all started from a Willie Le Roux kick that went down the throat of Andrew Trimble - the Springboks full-back got a few boos for that.

Paddy Jackson stands over the penalty - nice and central - easy peasy.

  15. Postpublished at 9 mins

    South Africa 3-0 Ireland

The penalty goes to the corner and the line-out is solid for South Africa. They forego the drive and spin it across the field - twice it comes to Siya Kolisi who looks extra lively. But it wriggles out of his grip courtesy of a great tackle by Quinn Roux.

  16. Postpublished at 6 mins

    South Africa 3-0 Ireland

Ireland come away from the restart with the ball but Pieter-Steph du Toit reaches out a big old hand and snatches the turnover, before forcing Ireland to infringe.

  17. Penalty (Jantjies)published at 4 mins

    South Africa 3-0 Ireland

It's a long way out, but dead centre, and Elton Jantjies has no problem with his first task since being drafted into the team.

  18. Postpublished at 3 mins

    South Africa 0-0 Ireland

The first attempt at a scrum goes awry. Francois de Klerk spins the ball on his hand like a Harlem Globetrotter while he waits for it to reform.

And Ireland wheel around and concede the penalty.

  19. Postpublished at 2 mins

    South Africa 0-0 Ireland

Iain Henderson put too much Vaseline on to his hands before the game and his knock-on gives South Africa a scrum on halfway.

    South Africa 0-0 Ireland

Remember when South Africa lost to Japan at the World Cup? They responded with a 46-6 troubcing of Samoa.

    Sorry. Forget I said anything.
