Ford hoists one but Watson can't take it. But here he is again, scampering down the left wing after an offload by Brown, but Phipps tackles him into touch. Australia make a hash of a back move on their own 22 but England give it back. This is manic, England line-out...

Bones have been picked and the decision is that Robshaw tackled around the neck - penalty to Australia - but Moore inflamed the situation - penalty to England. Wallabies coach Michael Cheika looks dumbfounded.

James Hiscock: This pitch is terrible. Completely negates the English advantage in the scrum. These things don't happen by accident in Oz.

"The pitch is going to be interesting having dug up under those scrums. Dan Cole has James Slipper in a bit of trouble in those scrums. Australia have a direct attack through their big centres - if they get Bernard Foley running as a second receiver he's a dangerous player."

Haskell under pressure on his own line but he does well, presents the ball and Youngs clears. As last week, it's Australia with the stronger start, England just can't get their hands on the ball. It's all gone off, Cole's shirt is ripped off his back and we've got some serious argy-bargy. In true modern fashion, nobody throws any punches, there's a lot of huffing and puffing instead. Pick the bones out of that one.

"For five phases Australia did not get over the gain-line and eventually did it on the sixth or seventh phase.

"I also think Australia are verging on going too far with communicating with the referee."

    Australia 0-0 England

Harem-scarem start, both sides trying to get a foothold in the game. Another fine take by Folau, before Brown fields, is clobbered and coughs up the ball for an Aussie scrum. There has been a lot of rain in Melbourne and the pitch has ploughed up at the first scrum, not good. Same again second time but Australia do get it way. Kerevi dips his shoulder and almost wriggles through the tackle from Farrell... the Wallabies go left, Haylett-Petty is ushered into touch, England line-out...

"There's a real difference in body language between the Australia and England goal kicker. You couldn't see Bernard Foley quickly going for thee but Owen Farrell couldn't wait to have a crack at it. Although he didn't hit that how he would have liked."

  14. Missed penaltypublished at 4 mins

    Australia 0-0 England

Youngs chips in behind, Horne fields. England infringe at the breakdown, Joseph the culprit, Foley gets this one right, but the Aussies are penalised for a bit of argy-bargy at the line-out, Itoje getting up Kepu's nose. Farrell pushes the penalty attempt wide...
