Captain Greig Laidlaw returns as one of four changes for Gloucester from the side that lost to Newcastle Falcons. 

James Hook is given his first start of 2016-17 at full-back, Billy Twelvetrees makes his 100th Gloucester appearance and prop Paddy McAllister also starts. 

The Cherry and Whites are without injured full-back Tom Marshall, but Matt Kvesic - who missed the defeat by Falcons because of a bad cut to his face - is fit to return to the bench.

Bath make three changes, as former Gloucester lock Elliott Stooke gets his first Bath start against his old club. Hooker Tom Dunn also comes into the visitors' first team, while Aled Brew replaces injured centre Dan Bowden.

Dave Attwood drops to the replacements bench, where he is joined by hooker Ross Batty.

Gloucester: Hook; Sharples, Twelvetrees, Atkinson, Purdy; Burns, Laidlaw (capt); McAllister, Hibbard, Afoa, Savage, Galarza, Moriarty, Rowan, Morgan.

And the points keep coming for Leicester in this pulsating opening quarter.

Owen Williams notches a penalty from almost halfway back with his right boot and Leicester's lead is now 10 points on 18 minutes.

Bath director of rugby Todd Blackadder told BBC Radio Bristol:

"If there is one game of the season you've got to win, it's this one. I'm really looking forward to this one. 

"It's easy to prepare for these games as a coach - you don't really have to say a lot as the players already know what needs to be done. 

"I feel that last week against Leicester has prepped us really well, because it's going to be a hard tough, physical game."

Fairly quiet opening five minutes of this game with neither side making much of an impression on the other.

There's a late change for Leicester with replacement fly-half Freddie Burns withdrawn from their matchday squad through injury.

He has been replaced on the bench by George Worth.

Gloucester head coach Laurie Fisher told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"You find, in some games, there's an extra edge around the place, and little bit more tension and fire in the belly. 

"A derby game like this is one of those occasions. 

"We have an opportunity this Saturday to put the Newcastle game behind us and show what we're capable of."

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill told BBC Leicester:

"We have the same approach this week. I don't think anything has to change - we can tweak our strategy for each team that we play. 

"What set us apart at the weekend (beating Bath 34-14) was our physicality, our mindset, our passion and emotion around the game, which is hard to bring every week.

"We have to make sure that the players that take the field know their responsibilities playing for Leicester."

Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond told BBC Sport: 

"They're a good side as we know, a top-four team so we've got to be at our very best to challenge. 

"We've been a bit inconsistent to be honest but we're probably no further away than we were the same time last year. 

"We lost at home to Gloucester which we don't do very often and it has hurt us a little bit."
