A horde of green shirts bundle Ardie Savea back over his own dead-ball line and Ireland have a scrum five metres out.

New Zealand spread the ball wide. Is there space out there?

Not any more. Andrew Trimble steps up and rattles the fillings of Liam Squire with a big shoulder. The All Black flanker's pass drifts forwards.

Seven minutes to go. "Ireland, Ireland," echoing around Soldier Field.

    Ireland 33-29 New Zealand

New Zealand march the rolling maul up towards the Ireland 22m line. Ominous.

TJ Perenara is barking out the orders. "Keep going, keep going."

Finally Ireland get the handbrake on and stop the black momentum.

And there is a knock-on from the Kiwis as they try and move the ball away to the backs.

    Eight to go.

    Ireland 33-29 New Zealand

    Ireland 33-29 New Zealand

New Zealand running with relish. They have a man over as they come from deep, but Ardie Savea has over-run and cannot reel in the pass.

It is wave after wave now though. Ireland need to get some time on the ball and inside opposition territory.

Tremendous atmosphere. Any neutrals in the stands are fully engaged now.

A brain freeze in the Ireland defence.

Devin Toner takes his eyes off his man and cannot readjust to cover Scott Barrett's jagging line past his inside shoulder.

The debutant gallops over the line like a runaway giraffe and his brother converts.

Four points in it. Fifteen minutes to go.

    Just eight points in it.

Ben Smith crashes over in the corner. The All Blacks celebrate and if they are bluffing it is pretty convincing.
