After all the talk of the gulf between northern and southern hemisphere rugby, it is only Wales’ performance against the Wallabies in last week’s 32-8 defeat that suggests such a thing exists.

With Ireland beating the All Blacks, England thrashing South Africa and Scotland doing everything but downing the Wallabies, Wales alone of the home countries have looked off the pace this autumn.

With head coach Warren Gatland away with the Lions, interim coach Rob Howley will be hoping for – no, demanding - a reaction from his team against Argentina.

Anything less, and it could be a very long autumn and Welsh fans will be re-evaluating their team’s place in the European pecking order.

Prince Harry did not have to look far to exercise his post-match bragging rights.

Charlene, Princess of Monaco, the other half of Prince Albert, is a South African, who represented them at the Olympics.

She was sat next to him for the match, keeping up the quota of royals.

Rob: As an SA fan it's plain to see this team hasn't been as bad as this since the 53-3 team of 2003. Basic mistakes, badly coached, missed tackles, narrow play and importantly no leadership or inspiration. Root and branch changes needed!

That's 10 wins in 10 - he's doing a decent job with this England team...

That was perhaps the best I've seen Ben Youngs play.

He was so precise with his kicking, and then in the second half he picked his moments to attack a tiring defence - two sniping attacks created two tries, That shows real top quality.

That was really encouraging. If Scotland play like that, they should get at least two wins and that will build confidence going into the Six Nations.

South Africa captain Adriaan Strauss: "It was a very tough game, they were tactically very good and we couldn't deal with the high ball. We just couldn't put any pressure on the England team and we felt it the whole game. We'll have a hard look at ourselves on Monday and we'll fight back."

England captain Dylan Hartley: "There's plenty to work on, so that keeps us grounded. We conceded six penalties in opening 20 minutes and that isn't good enough. But we're very happy to get that monkey off our back and I'm very proud of our guys."

    England 37-21 South Africa

Good start to the season for England and a fourth straight win over southern hemisphere opposition after their whitewash of Australia down under. Eddie Jones is moulding a pretty handy looking team, perhaps the most exciting aspect being that there is plenty of talent on the fringes.

England boss Eddie Jones will be disappointed with conceding 21 points and a soft try at the end of that game. He will run a critical eye over Nathan Hughes' involvement in the game.

But what will very much be in the plus side is England clicking into gear after 20 minutes and scoring 37 points in very difficult conditions.

Australia captain Stephen Moore: "It was too close for comfort. We stuck to our game plan and took that opportunity at the end. We had to adjust on the move towards the end there, but Scotland are always so tough. We have lots of respect for them."

Scotland centre Huw Jones: "It is absolutely heart-breaking. We really thought we were going to hold on. It is gutting. Or discipline was not good enough today. There were too many penalties and infringements."

Andrew Priestley: Classic Scotland. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory after leading for the entire match & were playing vs 14 men at the end

Robbie Alexander: From abject misery last night, a return to glorious failure. To be a Scottish sports fan...

South Africa's jumpers completely miss the restart kick and Daly goes bursting through instead. England penalty, Farrell kicks to touch and the final whistle sounds. That's England first win over the Springboks for the first time since 2006.
