"We were terrible, we looked completely out of sorts.

"The performance today was outstanding. There was a real intensity to our game and we didn't get the rewards we probably deserved.

"There were some fairly frank exchanges at the start of the week. We celebrated two weeks ago and we challenged each other after last week against Wasps.

"Adam Jones was not expecting to play loosehead prop or 75 minutes but he did it for the team. He was excellent today."

The finish of the day has to go to Exeter at Sandy Park. 

Gloucester looked like they had the measure of Rob Baxter's side all afternoon. But a brilliant last-play from the Chiefs levelled the scores with seconds on the clock. And although Gareth Steenson's conversion went wide, his kick in the build-up to the try earned his side a share of the points.

Exeter's south-west rivals Bristol almost pulled off a spectacular comeback in Newcastle, but they left themselves too much to do at 19-0 down after 40 minutes and they're still without a win in the Premiership this season.

Harlequins' strong second-half delivered them with another strong home victory. They put a difficult performance against Wasps behind them and the result was led by gutsy individual performances particularly from their forwards

Tim Swiel came on at half-time for the injured Nick Evans and his presence really added to Harlequins in attack as well as showing great accuracy off the tee. 

After a valiant second-half performance, Bristol came close, but not close enough. 

Two second-half tries were not enough to reduce the 19-point deficit and Newcastle held on for victory. 

It's finished at Welford Road too.

Worcester with a better second-half performance, but Leicester were too strong and ran out comfortable winners, earning a try bonus-point along the way.

And it's all over at Sandy Park!

Gareth Steenson with an excellent penalty kick to the corner and it's Damian Welch who crosses after a good drive from the line-out.

Exeter almost knicked it at the death but Steenson's conversion goes wide and the game finishes all-square.

Tim Swiel adds another penalty to his tally for the half and there are smiles beaming all around the Twickenham Stoop.

We're taking a little time to set a scrum on the left-hand side but when it does Northampton are in a pickle. 

Harlequins' forwards coach Graham Rowntree gives a wry smile as his side gain the penalty and the home fans know that their side may just be home and dry now. 

Try time for Leicester and they earn themselves a bonus point.

hree minutes to play, and this one looks like it's all wrapped up.

Adam Jones gains a vital scrum penalty for Harlequins. The rest of the pack pat the big Welshman on the head and Harlequins gain the distance off the kick. Will they find one more score before the full time whistle? They're looking hungry for it. 

I spoke too soon. Worcester aren't going down without a fight.

Jaba Bregvadze with a try from the line-out drive and Ryan Lamb converts to make it Leicester 27-13 Worcester.

And there are problems for Gloucester too as Exeter have scored. Ian Whitten with his second try of the afternoon and Gareth Steenson with a penalty. So it's Exeter 22-27 Gloucester.

Charlie Sharples, in his 200th game, limps off. A sad end to his day. But can his side close out this game?

And Newcastle still have a narrow lead against Bristol. Joel Hodgson with the opportunity to extend their lead but his attempt drifts wide. Newcastle 19-14 Bristol with 10 minutes to play there.

Tim Swiel lines up a pressure penalty and although its trajectory isn't the straightest it does the job. We're into the final ten minutes and that could be the kick that seals the deal for the hosts. 

This game is going up a gear with the final ten minutes in sight. Kyle Sinckler's tenth carry of the match is a monstrous one, he's made more metres than Jamie Roberts and Marland Yarde, and the prop receives a standing ovation as he leaves the field.

Harlequins are still on the front foot as they set up the driving maul. 

Bristol may be within site of Newcastle, but the Worcester comeback was short lived.

Leicester now lead 27-6 at home to the Warriors after a try from Logo Mulipola and Owen Williams' conversion.

The Cherry and Whites still have a good lead at Sandy Park where it's Exeter 14-27 Gloucester with just over 10 minutes to play.

There's less than 15 minutes to go and it could still go either way at The Stoop. 

Harlequins have worked hard to generate comfortable cushions during the game but Stephen Myler's boot keeps on pining them back. The hosts are on the attack again and have another penalty to work from. 

Bristol are making a comeback at Kingston Park.

Having been 19-0 down at half-time, there's now just five points in it.

Mitch Eadie spots the gap and crosses for his side's second try of the half. Adrian Jarvis converts and Bristol are back to within a score.

Harlequins have worked really hard to develop their lead but as they are penalised at the breakdown abd Stephen Myler keeps them on their toes with another three points.
