  1. try

    Try (Alofa)published at 10 mins

Harlequins' opening try of the match is a well worked and simple one.

They take the ball through the hands out wide on the left; Luther Burrell over commits and that leaves a nice gap for Harlequins to work with. Tim Visser makes the hard yards and he finds Alofa Alofa who scores his first for the club.

It's a solid score but once again Nick Evans misses the kick at goal.

  2. Opportunity missedpublished at 9 mins

    Harlequins 3-0 Northampton

At the moment Northampton's discipline isn't where it should be and Nick Evans is in a familiar position lining up a kick at goal.

However, it's another really disappointing kick from the Kiwi and the Saints are let off the hook. Can they now get a spot of ball in hand and make a move of their own?

  3. Penalty (Evans)published at 7 mins

    Harlequins 3-0 Northampton

Worrying times for Harlequins as Mark Lambert looks to have taken a knock, remember he was a late replacement for Joe Marler and he leaves the field for a head injury assessment.

On a more positive note the hosts have another shot at goal and this time Nick Evans makes it count.

  4. Around the groundspublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 8 October 2016

Well, after five minutes we're still pointless this afternoon - but sadly no cash prize for that in the Premiership.

Bristol are looking for their first win of the season against Newcastle at Kingston Park.

It's been a scrappy start at Sandy Park in the game between Exeter and Gloucester and Worcester are on top away at Leicester Tigers.

  5. Evans off targetpublished at 3 mins

    Harlequins 0-0 Northampton

Nick Evans normally kicks penalties for fun but his first shot at goal is wayward and it remains scoreless

  6. Early opportunity for Quinspublished at 2 mins

    Harlequins 0-0 Northampton

It's a pacy opening with both sides looking to keep the ball in hand. Harlequins make good ground before a knock-on but Saints fail to clear the ball well. Shortly after Mikey Haywood is pinged at the breakdown the home side have their first opportunity for points.

  7. Kick-offpublished at 0 mins

    Harlequins 0-0 Northampton

James Horwill leads Harlequins out and with a final 'Come on you Quins' we're off! The man in the middle today is Ian Tempest and he's taking charge of his 22nd Premiership game.

  9. Home advantage?published at 14:58 British Summer Time 8 October 2016

    Harlequins v Northampton (15:00 BST)

Harlequins will be looking to continue their strong home form - they've lost just one of their past five matches in all competitions at The Stoop. But, Northampton Saints have won the past seven meetings between the two sides, a record that goes back to May 2013.

Leicester have won their past 12 Premiership fixtures against Worcester, who have not triumphed against the Tigers since a 23-19 win at Sixways in March 2008.

Worcester, who are in 10th, have never won at Welford Road in 13 previous visits, going back to 1895.

And they have not won on the road in the Premiership since last season's 21-15 win at Harlequins on 19 March.

Fourth-placed Leicester have already conceded three try bonus points in five matches this season - as many as they did during the whole of last term.

  12. Back it uppublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 8 October 2016

    Harlequins v Northampton (15:00 BST)

Harlequins director of rugby John Kingston says he needs his side to remember the highs of their past home match and deliver.

"This is only our second game at The Stoop - and we are already into October - and it is an opportunity to back up the Saracens game," he told BBC Radio London.

"We know what a handful Northampton are and historically we have had some massive games with them.

"We are under no illusions. In the Premiership at the moment there are no easy games. It is a very narrow line between success and failure at the top but the bottom line is we have to be more consistent."

Newcastle make two changes, with scrum-half Michael Young and prop David Wilson both starting as they bid for a second home win of the campaign.

Bristol make three changes after their loss to Saracens, as Samoa back David Lemi makes a first start of the season.

Ben Glynn and Mitch Eadie also return and start in Bristol's pack, with the visitors missing six injured players and hoping to get their first win of the season.

England hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie is recalled to Exeter's side as they aim for their third win of the season.

Julian Salvi returns in the pack and centre Sam Hill replaces Ollie Devoto, but Jack Nowell (calf) is ruled out.

Gloucester have been forced to make two late changes to their starting line-up. Fly-half Billy Burns and number eight Gareth Evans have been withdrawn as Mark Atkinson takes up the number ten jersey and England international Ben Morgan comes in for Evans.

England Under-20 Ollie Thorley will take Atkinson's place among the replacements, while David Halaifonua makes his first start for Gloucester, and centre Matt Scott and prop Paul Doran-Jones also return.

Graham Kitchener and Dom Barrow return to the Leicester starting line-up and Ellis Genge will start a game at Welford Road for the first time.

Freddie Burns has been nursing a torn pectoral muscle and misses out, as does Ed Slater with an ankle problem.

Worcester have made a late change with Perry Humphreys and Dean Hammond switching wings.

England hopeful Ben Te'o is back on their replacements bench after recovering from a concussion injury.

Joe Marler misses out due to a back spasm

Harlequins were anticipating having England international Joe Marler back for this match but the prop has been ruled out late with a back spasm. As a result Mark Lambert comes into the starting XV with Adam Jones taking a place on the bench.

Elsewhere Nick Evans returns to start at fly-half after his spell on the sidelines injured and Rob Buchanan and Kyle Sinckler complete the new-look front row.

Captain Tom Wood returns for Northampton, one of five changes to the XV which beat Exeter Chiefs.

Full-back Ahsee Tuala, centre Luther Burrell and fly-half Stephen Myler are named in the back line, while Teimana Harrison is back at number eight. Saints also have a late change and it's on their bench as Harry Mallinder is replaced by Sam Olver, who wears 22.
