    Wasps 37-14 Bath

Neal Hatley, the England scrum coach, also seems to have got the seasons wrong...he's watching from the stands in a t-shirt!

Meanwhile on the field, Bath have a massive opportunity to claw their way back into the content.

    They've got a line-out on the five-metre line...

After a sustained spell of pressure, Exeter think they have the ball grounded against the base of the post, but the referee sends it up to the TMO.

He awards Thomas Waldrom the try - his second already today - and Gareth Steenson adds the extras.

    Saracens 21-6 Newcastle

Four points for Saracens that should just about keep them at the top for Christmas, barring a Wasps points flurry at the Ricoh Arena.

Marcelo Bosch and the returning Chris Ashton picked up the tries, Owen Farrell tacking on the rest of the points with his boot.

Newcastle were brave, spirited and committed, but they end up with zip. One of those days.

Another fine strike from Jimmy Gopperth to extend Wasps' lead which came from a penalty at the scrum.

The crowd, meanwhile, seem to be in the wrong season as a Mexican wave rolls around the Ricoh Arena.

Ohhhh, Exeter's maul is almost over the tryline twice, but twice the Tigers are penalised for bringing it down around two metres out.

No yellow card, and but the ref talks to Leicester's captain.

    GAME SET AND MATCH.

Saracens powered forward, went to the left where a high-tackle put Chris Wyles on the deck.

They had the penalty advantage but opted instead to run and a sweeping, left to right move eventually found Chris Ashton on his return for a try in the corner.

Game over Newcastle. Ashton back with a bang and Sarries will stay top.

Brave fight from Newcastle here, rattling the Saracens line around the 22 but they're resolute these lads.

Eventually, the attack runs aground through a knock-on and Sarries get the scrum.

Horrible looking gash to the face of Michael Rhodes that has blood ghoulishly shrouded over his neck, on comes Joel Conlon.

  8. Penalty (Gopperth)published at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 24 December 2016

    Wasps 34-14 Bath

Jimmy Gopperth continues his perfect afternoon from the tee and wallops one right between the posts.

30 minutes to play and Wasps have a 20-point lead.

Lots of kicks being exchanged early on at Sandy Park after that early Waldrom try.

Other than that, not an awful lot to talk about.

Owen Farrell slots another penalty to establish a 10-point lead.

It also denies Falcons a losing bonus point as it stands... what will Newcastle do in response? Go for broke?

And he didn't have to wait long.

The huge crowd at the Ricoh have been given a real Christmas treat this afternoon.

Elliot Daly with a scintillating break, he offloads to Kurtley Beale who finds Christian Wade and he runs in under the posts for his hat-trick.

This Wasps back-line are unplayable at the moment.

Gopperth is on target once again to add the extras.

There's no clear grounding so Christian Wade will have to wait. A monstrous hit from Kahn Fotuali'i to deny the Wasps winger.

It's a scrum on the five-metre line for Wasps though and Bath haven't cleared the danger yet.

    Classic Thomas Waldrom try.

Exeter take in a line-out five metres out, drive to the line and Waldrom is at the bottom of it all against his former club.

    Gareth Steenson adds the extras.

This game has all the hallmarks of a classic Christmas Day.

Starts with excitement, a flurry of activity.

Then we get to the mid-point, a break for dinner (half-time in this case) and after that, everyone sort of sinks into armchairs and has a nap.

We're at the nap stage here. Still no second-half points.

OOOOOOOOOH ALEX TAIT! Crucial intervention to deny Chris Ashton a try on his return.

Great kick ahead by the England winger but the Falcons full-back Tait was there to cover.

Meanwhile, Richard Wigglesworth about to come on. Personally, I hope they play Outhere Brothers' 'Don't Stop Wiggle Wiggle' for when he scores a try at Allianz Park.

  20. Team news: Leicesterpublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 24 December 2016

    Exeter v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

Leicester's team includes Mike Williams for the first time since October.

Williams has recovered from an arm injury, Freddie Burns is also fit again and Dan Cole is back in the squad.

Burns will line-up at full-back to accommodate the partnership of Owen Williams and 'Celtic Warrior' look-a-like Sam Harrison in the halves.
