Exeter make six changes to the side that won in Bordeaux, with try-scoring hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie dropped to the bench in favour of Jack Yeandle.

Props Ben Moon and Tomas Francis come in, as does second-row Jonny Hill, while skipper Gareth Steenson returns and centre Ollie Devoto starts.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we've had a single point in the past 15 minutes, the whole of the second-half so far.

I don't know what's hurting Jackson Wray, but he looks in a lot of pain. Born in the rugby union hotbed of er... Sunderland, coincidentally. Maybe that's why Falcons went after him so eagerly.

When Leicester Tigers bid farewell to Exeter-bound number eight Thomas Waldrom at the end of the 2013-14 season, few would have foreseen the impact he would have at Sandy Park.

The move to the south west has revitalised and rejuvenated both club and player alike, with his experience, nous and notably tryscoring proving pivotal to the Chiefs' Premiership final run last season.

Having topped the charts in 2015-16, 33-year-old Waldrom is again at the front of the leaderboard - level on six with Gloucester's Matt Scott... you wouldn't bet against him notching one against his former employers today.

A breathless first-half at the Ricoh Arena which saw five tries in all, three for Wasps and two for the visitors Bath.

Falcons flier Marcus Watson took a bit of an arm to the head and troops off for the customary head injury assessment.

Dom Waldouck is on in his place. Plenty of scrutiny around the HIA at the moment, understandably given the recent George North case.

Thomas Young, who's had a sensational first-half, now gets a try of his own.

It's great work at the breakdown from Wasps as Jonathan Joseph is turned and Thomas Young comes through to sprint over the line with a brilliant turn of pace.

Gopperth, as expected, adds the extras and the referee blows for half time.

Time for a breather and mince pie!

  7. Can the Chiefs ward off the Tigers?published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 24 December 2016

Coming up in 15 minutes we have a corker.

Just a point separates Leicester and Exeter in the Premiership table and this tussle of the relative 'new kids on the block' against the 'old hands' is the perfect finale to the Christmas Eve serving of rugby union.

Chiefs, with their Tomahawk Chop rallying cry, have made Sandy Park a tough place to visit and only high-fliers Saracens and Bath have come away with a win here in 2016-17.

Speculation surrounding the future of Leicester boss Richard Cockerill has followed the Tigers around the past couple of European games, notably after a drubbing by Leinster, but he's still in the job for now.

Tigers know how to grind out wins, and their East Midlands derby win against Northampton at the beginning of the month was testament to their defensive mettle.

    CHRIS ASHTON IS ON.

Meanwhile... Falcons winger Marcus Watson really is turbo. He chipped ahead into the in-goal and just as it looked as though he'd make it, in slid Chris Wyles to scramble. Let-off for Sarries.

It's been a fast game so far and some of the forwards are looking rather tired. I know how they feel.

But we've got a brief period of calm as the two packs get set for a scrum on the half-way line. And they're having to be coaxed by the referee to resume the action.

Bit of a delay as Jon Welsh has to sort out his boots. Bit of 'bantz' going on between the two teams now. All smiley and jokey.

Until the scrum is set of course...

While we enjoy two very thrilling contests, just a quick recap on last night's Premiership action...

Northampton Saints gave their fans an early Christmas present last night, inflicting a seventh straight defeat in all competitions on struggling Sale.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for Sale though, as their shiny new recruit Denny Solomona showed off his sparkle with a superb, acrobatic try.

31 minutes, 31 points...Christmas has come early at the Ricoh!

George Ford collects the ball on halfway and after a period of kicking, Bath make ground with ball-in-hand.

They're looking very comfortable on the ball here and Wasps need to slow them down.

I've just witnessed the worst pass of the season from Saracens full-back Sean Maitland. Chris Wyles had to poke out a toe to stop it, that's how low it dipped.

No let-up in the grunt in this one, still as physical as it was... Saracens starting to fling the ball about now. Warning shot for Newcastle.

BBC Radio 5 live at Ricoh Arena

"You've got such big men running at open spaces. Dave Attwood against Elliot Daly probably has a nine-stone advantage, there was no stopping him.

"This Bath team have much more of a presence up front with a sizeable front five and they're using that to their advantage."

This hasn't been the strongest defensive display from either side so far.

Kahn Fotuali'i breaks through another tackle to take Bath deep inside the Wasps 22.

Bath are patient and Dave Attwood, up against Elliot Daly from two-metres out, crashes over the line for their second try of the afternoon.

    An electric first 25 minutes...

It looks like Saracens' mascot, Sarrie the camel, is wandering around trying to dish out a bunch of flowers to a fan. He's not having much luck.

Anyway, Newcastle are on their way back out, Saracens to follow shortly.
