    Sale 12-0 Bristol

The Sharks give away a penalty for not rolling away and Jason Woodward decides to go for the posts from halfway.

He doesn't have the distance but following his kick the visitors are back to a full compliment of players as Ryan Bevington's sin-bin ends.

    Worcester v Harlequins (15:00 GMT)

Worcester start the new year looking to move away from danger at the bottom of the Premiership.

After losing to bottom club Bristol on Boxing Day, the Warriors are just two points above the West Country side.

Worcester have only taken one point from their last six league games and are yet to add to their sole win of the season, against Newcastle in October.

Harlequins have won 14 of the last 15 Premiership meetings with the Warriors - but the Londoners have lost all five of their away games this season.

A first away win of the season must be one of Quins director of rugby John Kingston's resolutions in 2017. Will they break their duck today?

  5. try

Try (Solomona, missed con Mitchell)published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2017

    Sale 12-0 Bristol

It's two in two for Denny Solomona.

After a stunning score at Franklin's Gardens the winger pounces on a neat chip through and Sale ensure that they do make the most of their man advantage.

James Mitchell's conversion attempt hits the posts but the hosts are in a good position after 21 minutes played.

  6. Team newspublished at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2017

  8. Sarries eyeing top spotpublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2017

    Leicester v Saracens (15:00 GMT)

Saracens head into the hostile atmosphere of Welford Road looking to regain their place at the top of the Premiership table.

Sarries are five points behind leaders Wasps, and need a bonus-point win to sit at the summit this evening.

Given Leicester's home record this season, that will be a very difficult task.

The Tigers have only lost one of their last 14 home games in all tournaments, suffering a defeat by Wasps back in September.

Richard Cockerill's side won the corresponding fixture last season.

He becomes just the 16th player in the history of the club to reach the milestone, and just the second player this century to do so.

The fly-half made his first team debut just over 10 years ago and his tally of 2,444 points is the second highest recorded for Saints.

  14. Mid-table clash at Kingsholmpublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2017

    Gloucester v Northampton (15:00 GMT)

At Kingsholm it’s 9th versus 8th with both teams looking to push themselves up the Premiership table.

Gloucester head into the game off the back of a narrow loss against Harlequins but they haven’t been defeated at Kingsholm in any tournament since 1 October.

Northampton’s round 11 victory over Sale Sharks ended their four-game losing run in all competitions and they seem to enjoy playing at Gloucester, having been defeated just once there in their last four Premiership trips.

  15. Postpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2017

    Sale 0-0 Bristol

Up in the north west, much of the early possession has belonged to Bristol.
