It's been all Italy but from the restart France come to life, carving through on the left side and driving to within a few metres.

Is that a try?! Virimi Vakatawa bundles over but it's knocked on and called back for an earlier offside.

    Italy 5-3 France

It's very early days but it looks like there are more tries for Italy in this. Every time they have got the ball wide France have looked in real trouble.

The French are camped close to their own try line after that scrum, trying to find space for a clearance, which Camille Lopez spins into touch elegantly with his left peg.

    Italy 5-3 France

Sergio Parisse has been at the heart of everything for Italy so far, as ever. He calls for a long line-out and then drills a gap in the French defence.

They have men over, they spin it right but a knock-on costs Italy a certain try.

Pressure at the scrum hands France a penalty and they elect to go for goal.

  13. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Italy 5-0 France

It's been a really shoddy start from France. That whole Italy attack came from Les Bleus losing the ball in a good position through an unnecessary offload which went astray.

France have only scored two tries all tournament, and they're already one down.

  14. Missed conversionpublished at 4 mins

    Italy 5-0 France

No extras from Carlo Canna though, he misses the conversion.

Parisse with the early breakthroughpublished at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2017

    Italy 5-0 France

Wow that didn't take long! The quickest try of the tournament so far. Italy have advantage bang in front of the posts so have nothing to lose, they play it quickly out to the left and lovely hands from Carlo Canna sends skipper Sergio Parisse barrelling over the line from close range.

    Unstoppable.

Italy have lost their last 10 games in the Six Nations, only once have they gone on a longer such run (14 – 2000-2002); in fact only four times in the history of the Five/Six Nations has any team gone on a longer losing run (France 17, Scotland 15, France & Italy 14).

Not to depress any of our British readers but I can confirm that it's T-shirt and sunglasses weather inside the Stadio Olimpico.

I say confirm - visually. I'm in Salford. Your licence fee has not contributed to me jetting off to Rome, fear not.
