Raphael Chaume is too slow to roll away in the shadow of his own posts.

    Penalty Saracens.

Owen Farrell has a moan about the infringement, but is going to take the three points.

    Get the lawbook out.

Clermont are penalised with a scrum back after taking a quick lineout from behind the point the ball went out (outside the 22m) and then kicking straight into touch.

    Nigel will know...

Saracens aren't asking twice. They are up to within five.

A try here could be pivotal to the outcome.

There is only five points in this and we are seeing signs that Clermont have changed their game plan - they're throwing numbers in at the breakdown to try and force the turnover.

That's twice they've stolen the ball and they're going to test Nigel Owens to see what they can get away with now.

Clermont have come out with intent.

A delicious side-door no-look offload from Fritz Lee and Aurelien Rougerie cantering free and fast.

Sebastien Vahaamahina has hobbled to the sidelines though. Paul Jedrasiak on in the second row for Clermont.

I am not a fan of that. It was a ruck.

A ruck is a ruck and players cannot reach over and steal the ball.

  7. Missed drop-goal shotpublished at 43 mins

    Clermont 7-12 Saracens

Now it is Clermont who are piling on the pressure.

Sebastien Vahaamahina pinches the ball from Richard Wigglesworth, David Strettle flicks the ball inside to Scott Spedding and Saracens are stretched and scattered across their own 22m.

Camille Lopez snaps a dropper attempt... Just wide.

We are back up and running and Saracens have some good field position after George Kruis gets half a charge down to Morgan Parra's kick and then Mako Vunipola swallows Scott Spedding in a tackle.

We will be seeing that Ash-splash at Toulon next season of course.

Still plenty of chances to add to the record Champions Cup try haul.

Dan Beard: The Sarries forwards have been running like backs! Amazing.

Jonny Mango: Clermont will be the happier of the two teams. Saracens should be out of sight, but their bench does look stronger.

And it's not all praise for Chris Ashton...

Robert MacPhee: Ashton dive could cost Saracens as made the kick more difficult.

Word is that Saracens fancy themselves as fitter than Clermont who ply their trade in the Top 14 land of giants.

A five-point lead at the break. Is that the last the French side see of Saracens?

Chris Ashton is a very particular animal. He needs to be coached.

He does not naturally understand the whole game but once he picks out people who he can run off, the likes of Owen Farrell and Toby Flood, he can run over the try line.

A bit of indiscipline for Saracens blindside Michael Rhodes as he reacts to some head-patting sarcasm with a big push.

The two teams are briefly all in. But referee Nigel Owens defuses it and penalises Rhodes with another 10 metres.

Camille Lopez sells Owen Farrell somewhere down the Royal Mile with an outrageous dummy. Remi Lamerat is quick to exploit the hole.

But Brad Barritt takes him down, springs to his feet and secures the turnover.

Superb from the Saracens skipper and another chance to go points-hunting in the Clermont 22m.

Clermont hit a brick wall in attack, phase after phase of attack stifled by the Saracens defence and Camille Lopez takes to the air.

Up goes the kick, Alex Goode is under it, it bounces loose and then into the mitts of Damien Chouly.

But it is forward of a Clermont hand. Scrum Sarries.

I've not noticed it with Saracens before but they seem to be able to defend with less men better than any other team.

If there's a three or four on two, they read the opposition and can protect the overlap better than anyone else.
