    Bath 0-0 Wasps

Willie Le Roux gets a penalty for a tackle in the air as Bath chase down an Adam Hastings kick.

Ball pumped to touch but Bath pick off the line-out.

    Bit scrappy first three minutes.

  2. Kick-offpublished at 0 mins

    Bath 0-0 Wasps

So many big match-ups, Wade v Watson, Rokoduguni v Le Roux. Tasty.

Anyway, JP Doyle blasts his whistle and Bath get us underway... first touch of the ball for Wasps and an early break by Ashley Johnson.

    Underway at Kingsholm too.

Right, the world and his dog is at Bath this afternoon for radio, with 5 live sport, BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire all broadcasting. Probably for the half-time pile of sausage rolls.

The chance I had to attack that mound of meat-filled pastry, while covering a game at the Rec a few years back, remains one of my favourite commentary moments.

Anyway, I digress. You can select the commentary you want of that game by clicking the tabs above.

The same applies to Gloucester v Harlequins, where BBC Radio Gloucestershire have their cherry and white-tinged coverage.

Perfectly accompanied by ourselves, of course.

Sure, anyone can take a picture of a rainbow. But is there any chance the commentary team at Kingsholm today are going to do a solid for the youngest of our rugby followers and sing a rainbow?

The stakes are high in the Premiership and as such, clubs are desperate to get the international players back in their squads during these Six Nations rest weekends.

Henry Slade was sent out into the fray last night for Exeter, Bath have named three of their absentees in the squad, while Quins too have kitted out and fielded a couple of their Six Nations call-ups.

Kyle Sinckler is one of them. Explosive ball-carrying helped him stand out off the bench against Italy last weekend.

  6. Here we go again...published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2017

Well, before we get into the Saturday afternoon rugby groove, let's look back at the action we have already been treated to this week.

We start at Welford Road where visiting  Exeter  moved to within a point of Premiership leaders Wasps, thanks to a  34-15 bonus-point win over Leicester Tigers.

Oh, and to make things nice and tasty in the context of the season,  Northampton  managed to make ground on Leicester in fifth with a  32-12 victory over Sale Sharks.

While there was one injury setback for Harlequins last week, there was also bit of bright news worth highlighting again as flanker Chris Robshaw returned to non-contact training.

It is less than eight weeks sine the England international had surgery, which ruled him out of the Six Nations.

Baby steps it might be, but heartening to learn that he could return to first-team action by the end of March!

There are a number of forced changes for Harlequins.

The Londoners are without fly-half Nick Evans (pictured above) again after he was forced off injured against Leicester Tigers last week on what was his return after seven weeks out with a shoulder problem.

That means Tim Swiel wears the number 10 shirt, while Ross Chisholm replaces suspended full-back Aaron Morris.

Other changes see call-ups for Scotland wing Tim Visser, England prop Kyle Sinckler and hooker Joe Gray.

Harlequins:  R. Chisholm; Yarde, Marchant, Hopper, Visser; Swiel, Mulchrone; Lambert, Gray, Sinckler, Merrick, Matthews, J. Chisholm, Ward (capt.), Luamanu.

Replacements:  Buchanan, Owens, Shields, South, Naoupu, Jones, Lang, Alofa.

And now we turn our attentions to the team news from Kingsholm, where Gloucester host Harlequins.

Gloucester make four changes to the starting line-up which lost to Wasps in their last Premiership fixture.

Billy Burns (pictured above looking a bit terrified to be running with the ball) plays at fly-half, while forwards Yann Thomas, John Afoa and Mariano Galarza all return.

Gloucester:  Marshall; Sharples, Scott, Twelvetrees, Halaifonua; Burns, Heinz (capt.); Thomas. HIbbard, Afoa, Galarza, Thrush, Ludlow, Rowan, Morgan.

Replacements:  Matu'u, Hohneck, Doran-Jones, Savage, Kalamafoni, Braley, Hook, Trinder.

They are both a long way off the pace of the league's top sides, but there is still plenty at stake for Gloucester and Harlequins in today's other Premiership match.

With just six rounds remaining, both sides are very much in the hunt for a top-six finish and coveted automatic place in next season's European Cup.

Quins are seventh in the table, seven points adrift of sixth-placed Northampton after their victory at Sale on Friday, with Gloucester a further three points back in ninth place.

    The RACE is on!

Injury robs Kyle Eastmond the chance to face his old club, the former St Helens playmaker misses the rest of the season.

In his place the blockbusting Alapati Leiua comes in.

Bath fans might want to look away, as the rest of the squad reads a bit like a Fantasy Rugby team... Beale, Wade, Le Roux, Cipriani...

Wasps:  Beale; Wade, Leiua, Gopperth, Le Roux; Cipriani, Simpson; Mullan (capt), Taylor, Cooper-Woolley, Symons, Gaskell, Johnson, Young, Rieder.

Replacements:  Festuccia, McIntyre, Moore, Rowlands, Willis, Robson, Armitage, Bassett.

If Bath are going to give Wasps problems this afternoon, they will need their returning international stars to fire.

England three-quarter Anthony Watson can bring a bit of X-factor to the backline, while in the pack Wales pair Taulupe Faletau and the towering Luke Charteris add their muscle.

Former Wales stand-off Rhys Priestland has a pectoral muscle injury, so Adam Hastings - son of Scotland great Gavin, is called up instead.

Bath:  T Homer; Rokoduguni, Clark, Tapuai, Watson; Hastings, Cook; Catt, Batty, Lahiff, Charteris, Ewels (capt), Ellis, Denton, Faletau.

Replacements:  Van Vuuren, Obano, Palma-Newport, Stooke, Mercer, W Homer, Jennings, Phillips.

Victory today would give Bath's grip on a top four spot a huge dollop of extra-strength adhesive, notably in light of Leicester's defeat by Exeter last night.

Defeat by strugglers Bristol last time out checked the momentum of back-to-back wins, but all this has come in the absence of Six Nations absentees and a 16-strong injury list.

Wasps' emergence as a top four force over the past few seasons is now at its height, justifying the move to Coventry where the club has set roots and flourished.

Even without the missing James Haskell, Joe Launchbury, Nathan Hughes and try-grabbing Elliot Daly they have world-class players across the board, and they have taken advantage of Saracens' mini-slump to cement themselves at the top.

  15. Heavyweight weekendpublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2017

On the eve of tonight's eagerly anticipated boxing match between Tony Bellew and David Haye at the O2 Arena, the Premiership has pulled together two of its own biggest heavyweights for a Saturday afternoon square-off.

In the black and yellow corner, Wasps with a record of 12-1-3, are a big-punching unit who love to attack. To paraphrase Muhammad Ali, they'll float like butterflies and sting like, er, Wasps.

In the blue, black and white corner, Bath are 10-6 but have a steely defence - the second meanest in the league. However a long list of injuries have taken their toll and they might find it tough.

Add a tussle between two teams battling it out for a precious place in the top six with Gloucester and Harlequins, and it's every reason to stick around this afternoon.
