What England are trying to do is demoralise Ireland, trying to get themselves back in the game.

But at the same time try and get in the ascendancy, take the zip out of Ireland's defence.

Ireland with a choke tackle straight from the Les Kiss playbook.

James Haskell is too upright as he goes into contact and Johnny Sexton leads a mob of green shirts who wrap him up and keep him off the turf to effect the turnover.

Where is this one going then?

Just under half an hour to go and there is a swell of Swing Low Sweet Chariot building in the stands.

CJ Stander gives away a penalty on halfway as he drags a maul south.

Ireland have made 106 carries to England's 43, clocking up 245 metres in the process.

Jared Payne had made 56 of those, while Mike Brown is the man running the ball back for England with 33 metres made.

A few rogue shouters as Owen Farrell addresses the ball but the England centre is unfazed.

Bang on target and just enough legs and England are back within a score.

One of the big problems for England is, I'm struggling to remember a time when they have taken Ireland through four phases.

There is no momentum, no go forward and no huge pressure on Ireland's defence.

Ireland are putting England under tectonic-level pressure at the scrum.

The white pack is creaking and number eight Billy Vunipola has no option but to get his mitts on the ball and try and motor off the back.

Good work from Maro Itoje as he reads Ireland fly-half Johnny Sexton's runaround move and snares the 10.

I think Ireland's tactics, talk about making work for yourself, the simple kick to the corner.

So much rugby and so much endeavour for poor outcomes and that is sapping energy, that's easy to defend for England.

England are putting Johnny Sexton under huge pressure, he has very little time to pick out a kick.

Johnny Sexton is the master puppeteer, pulling the strings and orchestrating the game.

George Ford gets up quickly to get in a tackle though as the Ireland fly-half attempts to buy his backs some space with a pass pulled back behind the main charge.

England still spluttering rather than purring.

George Ford's looping pass over the top to Anthony Watson looks like a one-way ticket to hospital.

Not surprisingly the Bath wing spills as Irish hooves thunder towards him.

It will be really interesting to see how England play in this opening salvo.

Whenever they had that ball in that last 30 minutes they did nothing with it.

The kicking was aimless, it was ill-disciplined. It was not necessarily a complex fix, but mentally have they got the capability to apply it under the pressure Ireland are putting on?

Delicious hands from Johnny Sexton as he slips the ball inside to Simon Zebo in a twinkle.

The crowd ohh and ahh at his Fagin-like dexterity.

England are first back out on the paddock.

    And there is a change.

Mako Vunipola replaces Joe Marler at loose-head prop.

Ireland have also made a switch. Keith Earls off and Ulster's Andrew Conway on on the wing.

Things haven't gone England's way so far.

But maybe all they need is a bit of Alex Corbisiero in their changing room at half-time.

No, the former England prop isn't going to make a remarkable comeback and get them out of trouble, but his rapping skills could be just the inspiration England need.

Have a listen to his 'music' here.

    It includes these smooth lyrics:

"I suppose it's the red rose that makes us dispose of enemy front-rows.

"If we win we toast and bury the 2015 ghost..."
