    Scotland 0-0 Australia

    Scotland break!

After Australia go on a brief attack, the hosts dart up the left with late replacement Byron McGuigan doing a lot of the leg work.

It comes to nothing but Scotland continue to make some progress in territory.

    Scotland 0-0 Australia

A huge maul - driven for maybe 30 or 40 metres - from Scotland gets the crowd roaring again.

They cut across to the left with some quick hands but Huw Jones' offload to Ali Price is fumbled.

It was lovely play before that, though.

Scotland attempt to kick to the corner to make some ground but it falls the wrong side of the corner flag.

Scrum, instead, on the 10m line.

Scotland give possession away and Australia push forward again, this time making it over the 22 line.

The hosts' defence scramble and stand their ground as the Wallabies continue their relentless onslaught.

Eventually, the Scottish defence are rewarded and get the penalty, which Finn Russell kicks clear.

A big cheer from the home crowd.

  6. Missed penaltypublished at 2 min

    Scotland 0-0 Australia

Australia make a bright start and earn a penalty as Ryan Wilson, the Scotland number eight, fails to release.

It's a long one - about 47m out. Reece Hodge is a long-range specalist, though.

The distance is good but not the angle. No points.

Today for Scotland is about replicating the performance from June. They have to be at the same level of quality and if they do then they've got a really good chance.

    Chris Paterson
Former Scotland international on BBC One

He's a huge loss but what an opportunity for Byron McGuigan. He's been playing well for Sale Sharks and will be excited about playing. No-one in the world can replace Stuart Hogg but all of Scotland's players will need to step up. The Australian wingers will try to take advantage of Hogg being out and hit them hard down the flanks.

Stuart Hogg is a guy who captures the imagination and to be without him today will be difficult. He's probably Scotland's best player and in the form of his life. What a shame not to see the match-up of Hogg and Australia full-back Kurtley Beale.

    Scotland v Australia (14:30 GMT)

Australia attack coach Stephen Larkham speaking on BBC One: "There was a lot of disappointment from that game against England - especially in the last 10 minutes. We've spoken about it earlier in the week but now we are focused on the game-plan against Scotland.

"Over the last three or four years, every game has been tight. It's been pleasing to see. They're the best team in the world at the breakdown at the moment. They came out in June and upset us at home."
