On the decision to remove Finn Russell and put Greig Laidlaw in at fly half:

"It is a brave call by Gregor Townsend, but Finn has a big temperament and he will bounce back [after disappointment such as last weekend's defeat in Wales].

"The Six Nations is about winning, not about playing with about style or flair, it is about winning rugby games and Scotland did that today."

"Scotland were quite direct, they made France tackle and that makes teams tired. You crash at the 60-minute mark and I think the first half took its toll on the French. Penalties win matches, Greig kicked six in a row, and every time they went forward, France gave one away.

"When he went to 10, it was a big turning point. Scotland played with a lot more energy, it lifted the stadium and they closed the game out."

"Happier than last week that's for sure. The effort it takes to win a Test match is huge and doing it from behind shows the character in the squad.

"We were a bit more direct in the second half and we got our reward. France were excellent at the breakdown, at times they did go off their feet and they got penalised.

"Our forwards had such a massive game in the set piece and did so well, but they were still carrying.

On moving Greig Laidlaw to fly-half:

"It was mentioned during the week and we ran a couple of plays this morning. It was really seeing how Greig was and Ali brings so much from the bench. Greig's kicking was important so we kept him on.

"We were much better this week. To get back into the game and to be much more accurate than last week was pleasing."

Captain John Barclay speaking to BBC One: "We made it hard on ourselves, we got off to a poor start but at half-time we knew if we held the ball we would cause them trouble. We were a lot more accurate than last week but still not quite there.

"If you lose the first match, and are serious about the competition the maths is simple. We knew we had to put in a performance after last week."

Flower of Scotland is started by the crowd, but things get a bit tense in midfield as the French are on the attack and the songs turn to gasps.

Huw Jones piles on the pressure and Teddy Thomas can't latch onto the loose ball after a dropped pass from Geoffrey Palis. That's a poor pass though, and it's a Scotland scrum.
