    France 3-6 England

    Paul O'Connell
Former Ireland captain on BBC One

It is a very muted atmosphere. It is like the crowd are waiting for France to give them something. It is a crowd lacking in confidence.

Zeb Bowyer: Well all England’s work on the breakdown area is clearly not working. Four turnovers already in decent attacking positions, surrendering possession and opportunities. England’s play is too slow, too lateral and too predictable.

Rob Woodger: What is it with England not getting to the ruck? Turned over constantly last week and this.

Josh: Stop shoehorning second rows into the back row we’ve been completely bossed at the breakdown all Six Nations.

  3. 'England gain energy and invention with Simmonds'published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 3-6 England

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Sam Simmonds is a very different kind of number eight to Nathan Hughes - but what England will lose in weight and size, they'll gain in energy and invention.

  4. Penalty - France 3-6 Englandpublished at 25 mins

    Maxime Machenaud

Maxime Machenaud, the most accurate kicker in this year's Six Nations, knocks over France's first points from 44 metres.

  5. France 0-6 Englandpublished at 23 mins

England are playing with 14 men here as France move deep into the opposition half.

I think it's number eight Nathan Hughes lying on the turf. Sam Simmonds is on the touchline, as Hughes limps off the field helped by two England physios.

  6. England must utilise Care morepublished at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 0-6 England

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

I've seen Ben Te'o, Nathan Hughes, Maro Itoje running the ball - England now need to use them as decoy runners. I'd like to see Danny Care running the ball more - he's so dangerous around the fringes.

    France 0-6 England

    Tom Fordyce
Chief sports writer at Stade de France

Breathless opening salvos, the pockets of white shirts roaring at the early penalty, the shouts of "Allez les Bleus" echoing around as France first stem the English charge and then try to cause chaos in the visitors' half.

Welcome back to the international scene, Elliot Daly.

  9. Penalty - France 0-6 Englandpublished at 22 mins

    Elliot Daly

That's a weapon of a boot. Elliot Daly sends one through the uprights from inside his own half and England double their lead in Paris.

    But it's tries they need...

  10. France 0-3 Englandpublished at 21 mins

It's complete chaos out there, but England win a penalty of their own at scrum time.

This is a long way out, and Elliot Daly territory.

  11. Chaos at the breakdown?published at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

  12. 'England shocking at the breakdown'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 0-3 England

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Shocking breakdown from England. That's the third penalty France have won over the ball. England are so intent on playing the next phase, that they're not protecting their own ball.

  13. Problems for Englandpublished at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 0-3 England

    Paul O'Connell
Former Ireland captain on BBC One

England are going to have to deal with this all day. The French front three are very good at the ruck. England have to get the man cleared before it forms.

  14. France 0-3 Englandpublished at 19 mins

This is not looking good for England.

Serge Betsen said it was "funny" Eddie Jones had stuck with the same back row that were crushed at the breakdown by Scotland, and he's being proven right.

That's a third penalty now against the men in white. Will their leaders get it sorted before it's too late?

  15. 'England not as composed as usual'published at 17:03 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 0-3 England

    Paul Grayson
Former Lions and England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Absolutely frantic first 15 minutes. You get the sense England know what they're up against - trying to get the bonus point. Because they've gone wide with a lot less accuracy than they normally do, I wouldn't say they look flustered, but they're not as composed as usual.

  16. France 0-3 Englandpublished at 17 mins

France finally get a line-out right as captain Guilhem Guirado finds Marco Tauleigne at the front but their assault on the England line is haulted as Jaco Peyper awards a free kick from the mass of bodies.

This is a good position for the French pack, who win another free-kick, and call a second bite at the set-piece.

But scrum-half axime Machenaud overdoes the dinked kick and Danny Care sweeps up.

  17. 'England all over France at the line-out'published at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 0-3 England

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

England have been all over France in the line-out - they've nicked all three of France's throw-ins so far.

  18. France 0-3 Englandpublished at 14 mins

France are away! Remi Grosso picks off a pass after Owen Farrell and Elliot Daly get their wires crossed in attack but the white shirts recover to haul him down.

Yacouba Camara makes metres for France, who are into England's 22, but prop Rabah Slimani loses the ball forward.

And off goes France full-back Hugo Bonneval for an HIA after he ran into Jonny May's shoulder.

  19. Problems at the breakdownpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    France 0-3 England

    Paul O'Connell
Former Ireland captain on BBC One

England have to get the France player cleared out the way before the ruck forms. Once the French player is on the ball it is very difficult to get them off.

  20. Postpublished at 10 mins

    France 0-3 England

But rather predictably, England concede a penalty at the breakdown, their second in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Eddie Jones' side aren't getting the bodies in to clear out the French defenders, and they're caught holding on.

Is this a repeat of the Scottish game? England will hope not...
