Ireland coach Joe Schmidt says Scotland will pose multiple threats to his team on Saturday

Joe Schmidt is keeping coy about Ireland's hopes for a first Grand Slam since 2009, and only their second in history, but former captain Brian O'Driscoll thinks he's telling porkies.

"The players will 100% be thinking about the Slam," he told Rugby Union Weekly.

And BOD knows a thing or two about Slams.

Ireland have won two Grand Slams in history

Ireland are three from three so far in the 2018 Championship.

Many of their players already have two Six Nations titles under their belts from 2014 and 2015.

But captain Rory Best and full-back Rob Kearney are the only survivors from the 2009 Grand Slam.

    So what's on their minds?

Lansdowne Road is shrouded in a cold, grey mizzle that has done little to dampen the spirits of the supporters ahead of kick-off.

I’ve seen some spectacularly garish kilts already, which have added some much-needed colour.

There is definitely an extra nervous energy in the Dublin air, and the area around the Aviva Stadium was certainly busier this morning than in the build up to the matches against Italy and Wales earlier in the championship.

The sun is expected to break through before we get underway, but the conditions may favour Ireland who will not be too disappointed if this game evolves into a forwards-oriented battle.

With the permutations cleared up, is this situation the fault of bonus points?

Are you in favour of the added extras, or have they ruined the Six Nations title race?

If Ireland beat Scotland without a try bonus, England just have to win in Paris to keep the race alive.

If Scotland upset the Irish in Dublin, the hunt for the title will go to the final weekend, setting up a dramatic conclusion, with a host of sides all able to the lift the trophy. We'll go into that later.

But it would dramatically increase England's chances of securing the Championship if they weren't to collapse in Paris. Simple really.

Phew, glad that's sorted. We'll revisit this again later.

Ireland are the only team left in this year's championship still in the hunt for the Grand Slam.

They have a five-point advantage over second-placed England, after Eddie Jones' side failed to get even a losing bonus-point against Scotland at Murrayfield.

Both England and Scotland still have an realistic chance of claiming the title.

    BUT...

If Ireland beat Scotland with a four-try bonus point, England have to match that result against France in Paris later this afternoon to keep the championship alive.

You might, or might not be aware, but Ireland could actually win the Six Nations title this weekend.

So without further ado, let's have a look at the permutations.

Stick with me on this one, there's a fair bit to digest.
