We have an interested observer watching Ireland v Scotland. Former Ireland captain Paul O'Connell, now a BBC pundit, is giving us a running commentary in the outside broadcast truck in Paris.

Ian B: After beating England the Scots revert to type, throwing interceptions and butchering chances.

Kier: Normal service has resumed for Scotland. Not playing anywhere near the same intensity they played against England! Shame.

It has been such a frenetic opening half here that it was hard to know which team was truly on top right up until Stockdale’s second score.

Ireland have had lots of possession and look more disciplined in attack, but Scotland are so dangerous when counter-attacking and Huw Jones will have nightmares at his failure to convert that two-on-one when his pass to Hogg drifted forward.

Stockdale is doing something unheard of for an Irish winger 10 tries in eight Tests is an incredible strike rate.

His first was all of his own making but Garry Ringrose’s involvement for the second shows how valuable a second distributor can be in the Irish backline.

Ireland now halfway to a bonus point. Can they do it?

In the end Ireland made their dominance of possession and territory count in that first half.

Scotland have it all to do.

Ten tries in eight Tests for Jacob Stockdale is a hugely impressive strike rate in international rugby. He's been criticised for lacking timing in the past, but it's been spot on today, and to be fair, for most of his international career.

The 21-year-old has been the difference for Ireland on eighth test.

Just to remind you, he's got 10 tries in eight Tests. Ridiculous.

Scotland are still very much in this match, they had the Huw Jones-Stuart Hogg chance, and it could have been different if they'd put that one away. It's crucial that Scotland score next now.

Tom Williams: Not quite as exciting as the rest but listening on the radio sat in a supermarket carpark whilst my daughter sleeps in the car.

Throughout that play Ireland didn't actually execute very well, but it still came off for them. The loop worked, even though Scotland seemed to read the move. Jacob Stockdale did very well to finish it off though - he just can't stop scoring.

With seconds to go before the break Scotland have a scrum five metres out.

Johnny Sexton flicks a beautiful ball out wide to Jacob Stockdale and Ireland are inches from scoring what would have been a crucial try on half-time.

Scotland with yet another opportunity to reduce the deficit before the break but now they come up with the handling error.

Scotland are putting the pressure on here as we reach the end of the half but their defence has been far busier.

They've had to make 86 tackles as we come to the end of this first half compared to 63 from Ireland.

They've missed more tackles as well. Eight missed compared to six by Ireland.

There are bodies all over the place, because my word, it has been exhausting. The ball is coming in and out of rucks at such a pace, especially when Scotland are in possession. There's going to be a lot of ice needed after this, because the fight at the breakdown has been right up there.
