    FT: England 22-16 England

    Jeremy Guscott
Former Lions and England centre on BBC One

That was a deserved victory for France. It wasn't full of fair or exciting brilliance. The game was exciting because it was close.

For me the fault for England comes down to individuals. One for too many penalties and then when it comes down to the last minute you have to have composure. Ireland showed it.

Stefan: Ever since Ben Youngs went off injured earlier in the tournament England have played slowly and with a lack of ideas. Danny Care isn't good enough.

Steve Wilkinson:Breakdown and discipline. Repeat. Farrell and Ford not clicking. Lack of intensity in forward play worrying. Backs passive.

Michael Perkins: So England got their bonus point... Maybe Eddie didn’t specify which one they needed.

    Touché, Michael, Touché.

Squeaky derriere time for France at the death, but somehow fitting that England's late larceny fell short on another penalty. 16 conceded across the 80 minutes, the music pumping in the stadium, tricolours waving, jubilant home supporters hugging and dancing.

England captain Owen Farrell on BBC One:

"We had a chance but unfortunately could finish it. We have to look back on it and learn from it.

"We are bothered about this game at the minute, fresh from walking off the field. It has been a tough game so credit to France. They defended really well. We will have to look how we can be more clinical.

"You have to build a score to be able to break a team to score four tries. That comes from pressure and unfortunately we weren't able to build it consistently.

"Our discipline can be better. Some of that is ill discipline and some accuracy. We have to make sure we get that balance right."

Jack Rule: We didn’t deserve to come close to winning. Played poorly from the start, can’t wait until last 20 minutes to play with intensity. Everyone knew we had to win from start!

  6. 'England miles away with strategy'published at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

    FT: France 22-16 England

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

It wasn't a good enough transition from last week's game to this week's game to warrant being number two in the world, and I think the coaching staff have to answer for that. England didn't seem to address the problems they had against Scotland, and England were miles away from them in attack - they attacked France's strengths for most of the game. England were miles away with their strategy today.

So France are celebrating a rare victory at home, Ireland are celebrating their third Six Nations title in five years, and England are furious.

Let's go back to the fall-out from their defeat in Paris.

  8. Ireland win Six Nations titlepublished at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2018

Ireland are the Six Nations champions with a week to go.

They will attempt to win a third ever Grand Slam next weekend at Twickenham.

But how different it might have been if this drop-goal had gone wide...

    Paul Grayson

England talked about bringing brutality to this game, being a master of the breakdown and they've failed on both accounts to be honest - they were outplayed by France.

Not an epic, but wow. What a final five minutes.

England messed up a line-out, France failed to find touch and then England knocked it on.

Judging by Mathieu Bastareaud's celebrations at the final whistle, French rugby is well and truly alive.
