Henry Slade has shown some decent pace there to hold off Elliot Daly and Christian Wade.

  2. try

Try: Leicester 15-0 Newcastlepublished at 15:15

    Jonny May, con George Ford

Brendon O'Connor reads Falcons' attack like a book and he turns on the afterburners to make the most of his intercept on the half-way line.

Once O'Connor senses the need for support he finds speedster Jonny May and that's job done for Tigers. George Ford strikes the conversion well.

  3. try

Try: Saracens 7-7 Bristol Bearspublished at 15:14

    Alapati Leiua, con Callum Sheedy

It's a try-scoring start to the season for Alapati Leiua and it's no wonder that he's got a big grin on his face. After crossing for the match-winning score at Ashton Gate the former Wasp capitalises on a cross-field kick from Callum Sheedy. The fly-half duly adds the conversion.

  4. try

Try: Wasps 24-35 Exeterpublished at 48 mins

    Henry Slade, con Gareth Steenson

Wasps, flooding forward with huge numbers and a number of options away on the left, see Billy Searle take it to the line and then puzzlingly just dishes the ball straight to Henry Slade.

He streaks away, with Wasps all left looking on upfield, to score. Decent pace too as Elliot Daly gave chase and was nowhere near.

Bonus point for Chiefs and a sucker-punch. Dai Young's face tells a story.

  5. Penalty: Leicester 8-0 Newcastlepublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 8 September 2018

    George Ford

This time George Ford has both the direction and distance off the tee.

On the other hand, Toby Flood missed an attempt at goal moments before.

    Wasps 24-28 Exeter

Dan Robson thumps a kick downfield looking to turn Exeter around but they get a bonus, as Gareth Steenson makes contact with his hands and it goes to touch.

Wasps line-out. Scruffy, but they just about get it. Time for a raid?

  7. try

Try: Wasps 24-28 Exeterpublished at 45 mins

    Sam Simmonds, con Gareth Steenson

Simplicity for Exeter. Wasps know it is coming but just cannot stop it. Yes, it's another driving maul, and another try for Sam Simmonds.

Wasps masters of their own downfall in some respects. Their indiscipline and poor execution gave the Chiefs that one on a plate.

  8. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Wasps 24-21 Exeter

So Brad Shields does make way, and there's a nasty looking wound on his head. Ashley Johnson is enthusiastically welcomed by the fans.

He'll have some work to do as Exeter kick to touch and now there's a line-out to defend...

  9. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Wasps 24-21 Exeter

Wasps back-rower Brad Shields gets a bang on the head while trying to tackle Exeter's Stu Townsend.

He's down receiving treatment. Not a debut to remember if he has to go off, and he surely will. Ashley Johnson the man who will come in his place.

Meanwhile, when we get back to action, Exeter will have a penalty. Will Wasps wobble?

  10. try

Try: Leicester 5-0 Newcastlepublished at 15:07

    George Ford

Will Spencer is the man to make the decisive break from the half-way line and it puts the home side firmly on the front foot.

Once they're there, George Ford does the rest and shows his class. The England international breaks himself, sells the show and go and determinedly touches the ball down with a roar.

That's exactly the type of start that Leicester will have wanted, despite the conversion missing the mark.

  11. try

Try: Saracens 7-0 Bristolpublished at 15:05

    Matt Gallagher, con Owen Farrell

Saracens start as they mean to go on with Matt Gallagher being put over for his first Premiership try of his career.

The excellent passing skills of Owen Farrell swing the ball swiftly to the left before Alex Goode pops it onto his team-mate. Farrell makes sure of the conversion too. Strong start.

  12. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Wasps 24-21 Exeter

Sometimes, in the heat of the battle, there's a moment of levity.

This time it was Nathan Hughes, swatting off Santiago Cordero. It was a bit like David and Goliath.

Wasps then went for a big shift right. Elliot Daly tried a 'Cipriani' cut-out ball to Juan De Jongh but the ball just squirmed from his grip.

Scrum now with the 22 in sight for Exeter. Then a scrum penalty.

  13. Kick-offpublished at 40 mins

    Wasps 24-21 Exeter

Former Leicester Tigers academy scrum-half Christophe Ridley, now dishing out penalties and scrums rather than passes from the base of the ruck, gets us back unde way.

Exeter get us going. Here we go.
