The timing of the pass from Van der Walt, it goes behind Scott to Kinghorn who gets outside his defender with the pace and draws in Adeolokun - it's a classic two-on-one.

Van der Merwe just guddles it as he goes over. It was a takeable pass.

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

Oh, what a glorious chance for another Duhan van der Merwe try.

Kinghorn breaks the line, draws Adeolokun and sends the big winger cantering towards the corner flag.

It looks for all the world like a sitter, but Van der Merwe just can't quite hold the ball and bring it into his chest. He juggles, parries, fumbles, and eventually loses the ball forward as he falls over the line.

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

It's very, very untidy. Edinburgh win the line-out and maul their way to the 5m line. They get turned over, then win the ball back again.

They're attacking under the Connacht posts now...

The big fella is on. He's got half an hour to make an impact.

Meanwhile, it's another Edinburgh line-out inside the Connacht 22 after a brilliant bit of jackaling from Ben Toolis

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

Big carry from Hamish Watson allows Edinburgh to go wide, but Dougie Fife is penalised for holding on.

Edinburgh nick the Connacht line-out, though, and come barrelling forward again.

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

Edinburgh go for the box kick again, and once more, Tiernan O'Halloran rises to gather it.

Marmion punts Connacht clear and Edinburgh have the line-out on the away 10m line again.

Andy Friend is bringing on some reinforcements early in the second half. Shane Delahunt and Colby Fainga'a are on for Dave Heffernan and Sean O'Brien.

  9. 'Surely another yellow...'published at 47 mins

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

You've got to think to yourself, surely there's another Connacht yellow card coming. They've conceded 11 penalties and about half of those were inside their own 22.

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

Edinburgh earn a penalty advantage and run the ball out of their own 22, using Kinghorn as the power-man in midfield. There's a wee dinked grubber kick for Watson to pursue, but Kyle Godwin smothers it, and we'll come back for the penalty.

Edinburgh kick it long downfield and will attack from just inside the Connacht half.

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

Dougie Fife makes a break after Matt Scott rips the ball away from a Connacht carrier, but Edinburgh spill the ball forward on the edge of the 22 and the visitors are back in possession.

Jack Carty sends a scudding, low kick bouncing into touch inside home territory.

  12. Connacht kicking surprises Wrightpublished at 43 mins

It worries you a little bit, Connacht keep the ball for three or four phases and kick the ball really early. Andy Friend has got a sevens background and you would imagine he wants them to play a bit more rugby. Considering they've had no possession too.

  13. O'Halloran dominates the skiespublished at 42 mins

    Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

Edinburgh use the box kick a lot, Henry Pyrgos sending the ball high into the Scottish sky, but Tiernan O'Halloran has been equal to every one. He's majestic under the high ball and begins the second half with a fine take.

Jarrad Butler's back from his sin bin and the second half is under way...

    HT: Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

    Colin Gregor
Former Scotland sevens captain on Radio Scotland

The try came from a Blair Kinghorn break from a loose Connacht kick. If Connacht aren't accurate from their kicking, Kinghorn will punish them.

He powered through a couple of defenders, Hamish Watson did really well to pick up the inside ball and gets so, so close to the line.

Jarrad Butler takes one for the team and gets sin-binned and from the scrum, Edinburgh showed the composure and execution to finish.

  17. Edinburgh 'have got to be more accurate'published at 20:32 British Summer Time 14 September 2018

    HT: Edinburgh 10-0 Connacht

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

At the moment, they're not managing the ball in the 22. Connacht's defence in those situations is really good but Edinburgh have to show more composure.

Cockerill will be really happy with a lot of the stuff they're doing. They're dominating possession, territory, breakdown, set-piece. They've just got to be a little bit more accurate.

I think they go in there sometimes and just think it's going to happen. That's why, for me, you take the points from penalties. You get to 16, 19, 22 points ahead. All of a sudden Connacht aren't in the game, are not quite as dogged. They know, at the moment, they're only two scores back and have the players to draw level.

  18. Half-time Edinburgh 10-0 Connachtpublished at HT

A two-score lead for Edinburgh, but it could - and should - be an awful lot more.

They've been so wasteful with the vast amounts of possession, set-piece-ball and penalties they've earned in the Connacht 22.

Duhan van der Merwe scored the only try of the half after Connacht captain Jarrad Butler was sin-binned, and that Jaco van der Walt penalty with the last kick of the first period sends the home side back to the dressing room 10-0 up.

  19. Penalty Edinburgh 10-0 Connachtpublished at 42 mins

    Jaco van der Walt

Van der Walt does the business and gives Edinburgh a deserved two-score lead at the break

  20. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Edinburgh 7-0 Connacht

Penalty Edinburgh from the scrummage. The clock is red. Surely they'l take the points this time...and they do. Jaco van der Walt will take a shot at goal from the tee.
