Quote MessageSo often we see routine line-outs, but that's brilliant from Scotland. Well done to forwards coach Danny Wilson and Gregor Townsend, it's great to see something inventive.
Another brilliant bit of invention from Scotland, this time at the line-out. Stuart McInally feigns to throw long but instead goes short to the unmarked Hamish Watson, who has the simple task of plunging over.
Greig Laidlaw adds the conversion from wide out, and suddenly Scotland are level. What a game!
Scotland 10-17 South Africa
Hoggy's away! Brilliant bit of counter-attacking play from the Scotland full-back, who sizes up what's in front of him hares up the lefty touchline and kicks ahead, but Willie le Roux is back to kick the bouncing ball in touch.
Scotland 10-17 South Africa
Scotland not making much headway over a dozen phases against a swarming South Africa defence. Eventually Sean Maitland is pinged for not releasing.
Bonus for Scotland though - Handre Pollard misses touch with the penalty and Stuart Hogg returns it with interest.
Scotland 10-17 South Africa
Bit of a murmur from the Murrayfield crowd here as Scotland kick another penalty to touch and win the line-out on the Boks' 22...
Immediate chance for Scotland to reply, after the Boks are offside from the kick-off. Greig Laidlaw dispenses punishment.
Scotland are pinged for collapsing a scrum, and Handre Pollard continues his stunning start to this game. He's scored 12 of the Boks' points so far.

"It’s frustrating. It's just unforced silly errors. Poor kick for the first try, poor contact skills for the second."

Quote MessageThe problem was when that ball got turned over the midfield defence for Scotland was all forwards, and South Africa took advantage.
Scotland lose the ball out the side of a ruck inside their own half. The Boks are onto it in a flash, and moments later Handre Pollard is dummying his way past a stumbling Sean Maitland for the visitors' second try.
Pollard adds the conversion and we're rollicking along at a point a minute here.
Scotland 7-7 South Africa
Hang on. Referee Romain Poite wants his TMO to have a look at Jones' initial offload. Fortunately for Scotland, he decides it wasn't forward.
Greig Laidlaw adds the extras.
That's the way to get round it. A couple of wide passes, a brilliant offload out the back from Huw Jones to Sean Maitland, and Jones follows up to send Peter Horne sprinting away to the line.
Scotland 0-7 South Africa
Huw Jones escapes the first tackler and has a little half-break, before being collared by Springboks lock RG Snyman.
Scotland are struggling to find a way through this blitz defence at the moment.

Quote MessageThat's a try-saving tackle from Greig Laidlaw, it was incredible scramble defence from Scotland and they win the penalty.
Scotland 0-7 South Africa
A loose kick from Finn Russell goes straight to Willie le Roux, who feeds winger Sbu Nkosi to put the Boks within sight of the Scotland line again.
Hooker Malcolm Marx is denied by a brilliant last-ditch tackle from Greig Laidlaw - I think? - and Scotland win a relieving penalty. Major let-off.
Scotland 0-7 South Africa
Nice little chip ahead from Greig Laidlaw over the onrushing Boks defence but Willie le Roux gets there ahead of Huw Jones just in front of the posts.
Scotland 0-7 South Africa
Scotland win a penalty at scrum-time after Springboks loose-head Steven Kitshoff is pinged for driving in sideways. Stuart Hogg kicks to the corner.

"You’d be disappointed if you were Ryan Wilson there. He flew up on Pollard and gave him the inside. He should’ve tried to force him out."
