Glasgow, down to 14 men for the moment, are searching for an instant response. The forwards build the phases on the Edinburgh line, but Edinburgh back-row Hamish Watson pounces in the ruck and gets his hands on the ball, and Warriors are penalised for holding on.

And Edinburgh get the penalty, and Glasgow prop Oli Kebble is sent to the sin bin for repeated infringements at the scrum. Edinburgh elect to kick to the corner and have the chance to build some pressure.

The scrum has been a bit of a mess this afternoon and we have another one here just inside the Glasgow half. It's already been reset two times, by the way. Attempt three coming up.

It's the walking wounded out there now as Glasgow centre Alex Dunbar, who's barely featured in his first appearance since October, limps off. Sam Johnson comes on for his first appearance following a bad knee injury.

That's a big blow for Glasgow. Stuart Hogg is off, presumably injured, and on comes DTH Van der Merwe on the wing as Tommy Seymour shifts to full-back. Kevin Bryce is also on at hooker for Grant Stewart.

For Edinburgh, Argentine centre Juan Pablo Socino comes on in place of Chris Dean.

Perhaps the first half is best summed up by looking at the number of penalties conceded by both sides. Glasgow have been penalised on eight occasions already to Edinburgh's six. Teams typically like to keep it in single figures for a full match...

It's certainly not been a classic at Scotstoun. Two Jaco Van der Walt penalties to Adam Hastings' one means Edinburgh are just in front at the break. It's been fiesty, scrappy, frantic, but not exactly thrilling.

Too many errors from Glasgow, says former Scotland centre Scott Hastings on BBC Radio Scotland. If Edinburgh's game-plan was to spoil the Warriors' attack, it's worked perfectly.

Adam Hastings' poor pass gives Edinburgh the ball on halfway and they attack, before winger Duhan Van der Merwe gifts the ball back to the home side. It sums up the game so far.

Edinburgh breach the Glasgow line as Hamish Watson charges through. He's brought down and they recycle. Ben Toolis takes his turn to burst a tackle before being chopped down. Eventually fly-half Jaco van der Walt gets the ball in his hands but his pass to James Johnstone is a poor one and it's lost forward. Glasgow scrum. Glasgow penalty.

There's no shortage of bite in this one and the scrum is playing the role of a pressure cooker. Both front rows square up for a tussle, not for the first time, and are warned by referee George Clancy. It's an Edinburgh penalty, by the way.

Glasgow win the penalty at the scrum and clear their lines. They launch into a training ground move off the line-out to set Stuart Hogg free, but the Scotland full-back knocks on.

And Duhan Van der Merwe gets a second bite at the cherry. He races down the left wing, skins Stuart Hogg and then tries an offload to Hamish Watson as he's brought down, but it's lost forward around seven metres out.
