  1. Home advantage decisive?published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (15:00)

Despite last week's win at Murrayfield - their fifth in five Pro14 home matches - Edinburgh have lost all six of their games on the road in the league this season.

Meanwhile, Glasgow have lost just twice at home in 2018 - to Scarlets in last season's Pro14 play-off semi-finals - and English champions Saracens in this season's European Champions Cup.

The home side has also triumphed in the last four 1872 Cup meetings. The last side to win away? Edinburgh at the end of the 2016/17 season.

  2. Duhan the manpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (15:00)

Duhan van der Merwe was named man of the match last week as his two intercept tries sunk Glasgow. The big South African wing made more metres than anyone in the Pro14 last week, and is Edinburgh's top try scorer this season. Just look at those biceps...

  3. Big day for Dunbar?published at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (15:00)

Scotland centre Alex Dunbar is making his first appearance for Glasgow since October. His contract with the Warriors is up in the summer, but he was not among the eight players to extend their deals this month.

It's early days but he has struggled to find his way back into the team since appearing for Scotland in November. He might feel this is his game to shine.

  4. Rennie rings the changespublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (15:00)

Head coach Dave Rennie bemoaned his side's attack in last week's 23-7 defeat at Murrayfield. In a bid to change their fortunes he makes six changes to the Glasgow XV. Scotland centre Alex Dunbar returns in midfield for his first appearance since October.

Ali Price, Niko Matawalu, Ryan Wilson, Tim Swinson and D'Arcy Rae are also drafted into the starting line-up.

As for Edinburgh there's just one change as they look to clinch the 1872 Cup with a game to spare. Jamie Ritchie replaces Luke Hamilton in the back-row. Hamilton has not recovered from a head injury sustained last week.

  6. 1872 Cup on the linepublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2018

    Glasgow v Edinburgh (15:00)

There are derbies everywhere you look in Scottish sport today, and rugby's own version takes place at Scotstoun for the second time in seven days as the country's two professional teams go head to head again.

Edinburgh won last weekend's encounter 23-7 at Murrayfield, which means they can wrap up their 1872 Cup with a game to spare with a win today.

Glasgow though, will have revenge on their minds and could set up a decider back at Scotstoun at the end of April. Don't forget there are vital league points on offer as well...
