    Half-time: England 22-10 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC online radio commentary

I have been very impressed by England. I can excuse Ireland a little bit for their rustiness because they are up against a top-class team in full flow.

If you are an England fan you can be full of excitement for the next few weeks and what lies ahead of them in Japan.

This has been world-class. They have truly dominated.

Alastair McCollum: For so many podcasts and people wondering about Iain Henderson's involvement in the RWC due to Kleyn's late rise, he has made an almighty start to this game. Immense strength shown across the Twickenham turf so far.

Jonny Mango: What’s the point in having a ball-playing 12 if your 9 takes ages to get the ball away from rucks. He’s a very ordinary scrum-half who plays well every 5 games or so. England will not win the World Cup with him starting.

  7. Can Ford deliver under pressure?published at 15:52 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

George Ford hasn't been under pressure today because England's pack are giving him momentum. This is made for him.

If the forwards can keep doing that they have a great combination in Ford and Farrell.

It's just whether in the heat of battle against France in the group stages or in the quarter-finals/semi-finals and the match is going down to the death, can Ford deliver under pressure?

    England 22-10 Ireland

Ireland produce a good bit of defence to stem the bleeding just as England mass on their line with the clock in the red.

They will head down the tunnel within two converted scores.

But the first half has been very impressive from England.

  9. Healy off for Irelandpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    England 22-10 Ireland

Ireland prop Cian Healy does not look too clever at all.

Wincing on the turf, he is surrounded with the Ireland medics who he knows pretty well.

He gingerly heads off. Jack McGrath is on in his place.

Nice touch from England's Owen Farrell and Jamie George who both give him a slap on the back on his way off.

That was a great set-piece from England. They showed some real strength and got the nudge on.

I am not sure what Ireland are doing in defence. It should have been quite simple and they should have closed it out. They look a little bit rusty.

You have to rush teams with players like England have because if they get momentum they will cause chaos.

  11. try

Converted try - England 22-10 Irelandpublished at 36 mins

    Manu Tuilagi (con Farrell)

In the end, England did not have to reveal any pre-cooked moves to get over the Ireland line.

Billy Vunipola picks up, keeping Bundee Aki tight to the scrum, Ben Youngs shifts the ball out and Ireland have got their defence all wonky.

Jacob Stockdale rushes up, Ross Bryne holds his line and Manu Tuilagi dives thought the gap to score.

Owen Farrell clips over the conversion.

England with a scrum five out and five minutes to the break.

A score coming here? It is a perfect position for Ford and Farrell to pull some strings.

    England 15-10 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC online radio commentary

    I love a walk-in! They're so satisfying to watch.

The phases beforehand, the interlinking, the ability of the players to stay on their feet and offload in the tackle makes them impossible to stop.

You run out of tacklers as a defensive line and England got the ball out quickly to ensure the score.

  16. try

Converted try - England 15-10 Irelandpublished at 29 mins

    Elliot Daly (con Farrell)

Manu Tuilagi torpedoes into contact once more, drawing in men and putting England on the front foot.

Then it is more quick hands with George Ford and Tom Curry freeing Elliot Daly for a stroll in.

    Extras from Owen Farrell.

  17. Postpublished at 27 mins

    England 8-10 Ireland

This might be trouble for Ireland. Conor Murray has picked up a head knock as he was caught by Jonny May's hip.

    Play continues though...

  18. Penalty - England 8-10 Irelandpublished at 25 mins

    Ross Bryne

Sweet as a nut. Ross Bryne strikes the dead centre of the ball and splits the sticks to put Ireland in front.

  19. Postpublished at 25 mins

    England 8-7 Ireland

Manu Tuilagi with a trademark ice-breaker charge into the green wall.

England cough up the pill though as Cian Healy gets in the way of Ben Youngs, Ireland pounce and thump downfield.

Elliot Daly with a lovely shoulder drop and skip away, but Iain Henderson - one of the visitors' star performers - ties up an England runner to give Ireland a kickable penalty.

  20. Postpublished at 22 mins

    England 8-7 Ireland

Never mind Tom Curry and Sam Underhill, Billy Vunipola gets into the breakdown game, pilfering ball as Ross Bryne runs down a blind alley and finds the England number eight lurking at the end of it.
