Eddie Jones on BBC Radio 5 Live: "We don't get too carried away, we know we can get better and have more in us.

"I was pleased with the intensity of the players and their application of the game plan.

"We have played some good games in my time. The Grand Slam match against France, beating Australia 3-0, we played superbly against New Zealand in the first half last year.

"This was a performance for the 80 minutes but we don't know where Ireland are in their preparation so it can be misleading."

  8. On the downsidepublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    England 57-15 Ireland

What might Eddie Jones have down as areas for improvement?

    • Ben Youngs looked rusty. And that is generous.
    • Elliot Daly is a potent threat in attack, but his defence is more paper bag than smother tackle.
    • Mako Vunipola came off late in the game. Could England's decision to name five props in their Rugby World Cup squad already be backfiring?
  9. Plus points for Englandpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    England 57-15 Ireland

    Eddie JonesImage source, Getty Images

So what will Eddie Jones note down as the plus points of that England performance?

Pretty much all of it, but especially:

    • The Curry-Underhill flanker axis was all over Ireland like a rash at the breakdown
    • Manu Tuilagi's directness forced Ireland onto the backfoot
    • Owen Farrell's midfield role released pace out wide efficiently
    • Maro Itoje looked in top form

  11. 'Hard to describe without using profanity'published at 17:09 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    FT: England 57-15 Ireland

Ireland captain Rory Best speaking to Sky Sports: "We can be a lot better and we have to be a lot better. That is not up to the standard that we set ourselves. It is hard to describe it without using a lot of profanity. It will not be pleasant viewing. We are nowhere near where we need to be the only upside is that it is the middle of August not the middle of September."

  12. Great team effort from Englandpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    England 57-15 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC online radio commentary

England will have a good night tonight and are back on schedule for the World Cup. How could you change this team?

Ben Youngs can play better, and will do so, but you have to start with that nine, 10, 11 and 12.

I love the forward pack but maybe you might want someone like Wilson or Lawes if it's raining and you need to grit it out in different conditions.

We didn't see a lot of Billy Vunipola today. He's someone we always talk about but he did a lot of hard work while Curry and Underhill were like scavengers around the park.

  13. 'Our best rugby is in front of us'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    FT: England 57-15 Ireland

England captain Owen Farrell, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are still building. There is a lot left in us and we are still looking forward to playing our best rugby. It was definitely fun. I love it every time I put this jersey on. We are building. The most exciting thing is that we have our best rugby ahead of us."

  14. Full-timepublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    England 57-15 Ireland

Just enough time for George Kruis to cop a yellow card for a high tackle on Jack Carty.

He went for the chargedown, realised he had been sold a dummy and instinctively brought his arm down.

But that is the last action of an excellent England performance.

  15. Replacementpublished at 78 mins

    England 57-15 Ireland

This is not good news for England's World Cup campaign.

Mako Vunipola is hobbling away to the touchline. Is it a repeat of his hamstring problem?

Joe Marler and Ellis Genge are the other loosehead props in the World Cup squad.

    Nothing wrong with that.

Maro Itoje made minimal contact with his man.

    England 50-15 Ireland

A carbon copy of Luke Cowan-Dickie's try against Wales. The replacement hooker catches an overthrow and flops over for the score.

But did Maro Itoje interfere with Devin Toner's attempt to claim the ball?

  18. Postpublished at 76 mins

    England 50-15 Ireland

Elliot Daly with a decent kick ahead sets up a footrace between Jacob Stockdale and Joe Cokanasiga. The ball beats them both, bobbling into the corner.

  19. 'Daly had to make that tackle'published at 16:49 British Summer Time 24 August 2019

    England 50-15 Ireland

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC online radio commentary

Elliot Daly will not want to watch that again. Bundee Aki produced some lovely footwork but Daly was one on one with a five-metre channel to defend and the touchline as his friend.

Daly has to make that tackle. That is not good full-back play.

  20. try

Try - England 50-15 Irelandpublished at 72 mins

    Bundee Aki

A fine individual try from Bundee Aki to put on a very short list of positives for Ireland.

The centre steps inside Owen Farrell, barges through Maro Itoje's arms like a Wild West saloon doors and beats a flat-footed Elliot Daly on the outside to go in the corner.
