Ross Bryne has had a solid start in the cockpit of the Ireland backline.

As England's defence comes steaming up in his face, he thread a fine touchfinding grubber up to the England 22m.

    Good option.

Ireland building phases but not making metres.

Time for something a little different. Ross Byrne chips wide to Rob Kearney, who kicks ahead himself.

But that is a superb bit of play from Elliot Daly. The Saracens-bound full-back sways his hips like a matador to sell Kearney into the West Car Park and secure some solid ball.

That's classic England in the first 20 minutes. All the play is off the training park and they are very capable of executing their moves.

Ireland are expecting Billy Vunipola to pick the ball up and know they have to protect fly-half Ross Byrne. Because of that they became compressed and that created the chance for England to set up the two on one.

England have practised that move hundreds of time. They have power across the whole of the team and it's whether Ireland have the power across the field to combat it.

Try - England 8-7 Irelandpublished at 12 mins

    Joe Cokanasiga

Eddie Jones said after last week's loss against Wales that there were some pre-planned moves that were staying in the playbook for bigger matches.

That might be a first glimpse of the Aussie's hand.

A delicious backs move with Manu Tuilagi running a thunderous decoy line as the ball is flipped wide for Joe Cokanasiga to steam past Jordan Larmour and in at the corner.

The last time I saw hands that fast was on the checkout of a German budget supermarket.

Owen Farrell's conversion shot is wide.

Alastair McCollum: This feels like a proper Test Match at Twickenham. A lot on the line for both sides pre-World Cup with priors fuelling a lot of the preparation. I've a nagging feeling with the physicality and intensity there will be a RWC-ending injury though.

    England 3-7 Ireland

Ireland have made that try look very simple. Henderson poached the line-out but it was average play from the England defence from there.

There was some lovely footwork from Stockdale and Ireland had the luck of the bounce but England have to be in their faces and close their opposition player down.

Converted try - England 3-7 Irelandpublished at 8 mins

    Jordan Larmour (con Byrne)

A string of stellar involvements from Irish players turn an England line-out near halfway into seven points in a twinkle.

First, Iain Henderson strips the ball out of George Kruis' mitts on the England lock's return to earth.

The ball is winged wide. Jacob Stockdale chips ahead and there are more sharp elbows than the January sales as he chases the loose ball with Elliot Daly, Manu Tuilagi and Joe Cokanasiga.

The bounce beats them all. And falls perfectly for the lurking Jordan Larmour.

And two more from out wide from Ross Byrne on his first Test start.

Up steps Owen Farrell, pulling rank on George Ford to claim the kicking duties.

    England 0-0 Ireland

Jouez, jouez. Eddie Jones has clearly given his team licence to play. Kyle Sinckler takes a quick line-out, which Elliot Daly probably won't thank him for. A 22m drop out from George Ford is a foxy little sideways side-foot which pays off more.

  13. Postpublished at 3 mins

    England 0-0 Ireland

A good start for England. Maro Itoje burgles a breakdown to secure a turnover. Owen Farrell provides the useful second kicking option, punting long for Jonny May to charge onto. George Ford has the ball nudged from his grasp on a good support line.

Ireland have a cracking side and there will be a big step in their stride if they win today and go to number one in the world. That will give them momentum to take to Japan where they should win their group.

England seem to want to focus purely on the way they want to play and, having named their 31, the selection issues are in the past.

They have a different strategy to other teams.

Ireland will have XV players really pumped and ready to give it to England because they want to get on the plane to Japan.

Ireland's reluctance to risk fly-half kingpin Jonathan Sexton and the absence of the injured Joey Carbery means that rookie Ross Byrne makes his first Test start.

The 24-year-old Leinster fly-half gets the keys to the lean, mean green machine and coach Joe Schmidt has backed him to return it in pristine condition.

"Ross has trained really well and it's not his debut, he's had time with us before," said Schmidt.

"We've got a lot of confidence in him - he's built his way through the season."

Jack Carty will get a go off the bench as well.
