Jack Conan picks up from the base of the scrum and Wales are off the line too quick.

The referee extends his arm to give Ireland the advantage for offside and Johnny Sexton tries a kick through but it comes to nothing.

Rory Best says "another scrum, please sir".

Tomas Francis has been in the wars and the Welsh prop is receiving a bit of magic spray on his arm.

Ireland move it left and get over the line but Alun Wyn Jones and Jake Ball get their body under the ball and hold the hosts up over the line.

Great defence by the visitors but Ireland still have the opportunity to attack from the scrum.

Can they launch an attack from the scrum now?

Wales pump the ball long into Ireland's half and this time Johnny Sexton gets his Garryowen right.

Jordan Larmour is under the ball and Wales are penalised deep inside their own half.

It's kicked to touch and it'll be an Irish line-out.

I don't understand Ireland's kicking game. Both Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton have booted away good front-foot ball.

Possession changes hands a couple of times as Keith Earls picks up a loose ball off his toes.

The ball is moved infield but Johnny Sexton hoists a poor kick into the air and Leigh Halfpenny calls the mark inside his own 22.

The defences are back on top at the start of the second-half.

    Interval reflections

Wales will be content with a half-time lead after coming back from 7-0 to lead 10-7.

They did not capitalise on early pressure but bounced back and showed how durable this Warren Gatland side can be.

They shaded the territory and possession stats and will hope to build on that in the second-half.

Shout-out to James Ryan who played that entire final passage of play in one shoe having lost a boot in a ruck.

A pretty decent game with some enormous hits going in, Robbie Henshaw's return is absolutely priceless to Ireland's defence.

Not too sure what specifically about, but Rory Best and Johnny Sexton are having an animated conversation with referee Mathieu Raynal as the teams go off for the break.

Declan: Last week was an experimental Wales team that narrowly lost to Ireland. This is the RWC team so an away win would be a nice way to go into the RWC!

It has been a disappointing opening 40 minutes for Ireland. Bundee Aki's break that led to Rob Kearney's score and a break from Josh van der Flier were the only thing to get the crowd going.

I think there will be some sparks flying in the dressing room as Joe Schmidt attempts to fire them up and get the levels of physicality higher.

Now it's Ireland's turn to attack from the scrum and Josh van der Flier charges clear.

He feeds the ball wide to Bundee Aki but the centre is tackled as Wales regroup just inside their half.

The red line stands firm as Ireland try to work some room before the interval.

    Patchell poser

    Gareth Griffiths
    BBC Sport Wales in Dublin

Wales will be concerned fly-half Rhys Patchell has received another head blow after he suffered concussion last season playing for Scarlets.

Patchell was making his first Test start since June 2018 after being chosen ahead of Jarrod Evans in the 31-man World Cup squad.

Wales fly out to Japan on Wednesday.

Alun Wyn Jones is a colossus in the line-out and in open play.

But the Welsh captain leaps high into the sky to clutch onto Elliot Dee's line-out as the visitors look to build once more.

Wales roll through the phases with real intent, going right then left, but the chance disappears when Hadleigh Parkes knocks on in midfield.
