    Exeter 14-13 Saracens

    Chris Jones
BBC rugby union correspondent on BBC Radio 5 live

Maro Itoje is so often in the thick of the action but it's so often him who gets the cards.

That area of discipline is so often an area of his game that's under scrutiny. What a 20 minutes we've had.

  2. 'Great advert'published at 15:26 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Exeter 14-13 Saracens

    Brent Pilnick
    BBC Sport at Twickenham

I don’t think I have ever known a start to a final be so mad - four tries, two yellow cards and no end to the action.

It’s been a great advert for the sport so far - here’s hoping the game in Madrid later starts as well!

But they can't hold out forever as Exeter keep plugging away, and the try is awarded!

Dave Ewers is the man who touches down from close range after the Chiefs went through the phases.

Joe Simmonds slots the conversion from wide on the left, and Exeter are back in front.

    What a game!

  6. Missed kicks "could be vital"published at 15:22 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Exeter 7-13 Saracens

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Owen Farrell has had one lazy pull, he's had a knuckle-ball that's just gone through the middle and that one has drifted to the right-hand side of the posts.

They could be vital by the end.

  7. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Exeter 7-13 Saracens

It's a catch and drive from Exeter.

A great tackle denies Ollie Devoto and they are close to the line again but Saracens are denying them somehow.

There is another advantage, before Wayne Barnes calls for the ball being held up over the Saracens line.

    Exeter 7-13 Saracens

Exeter can't find a way through to the line and we come back for a penalty for offside.

Joe Simmonds kicks for a line-out five metres out.

  9. 'Hypnotised'published at 15:20 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Exeter 7-13 Saracens

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

I love the patience from Ben Spencer. He just keeps giving the ball the whole time and it's pass, pass, pass.

You become slightly hypnotised by him.

  10. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Exeter 7-13 Saracens

Exeter are back to their full complement, with Henry Slade back after his time in the sin-bin.

A great run from Ollie Devoto sets up a chance on the left and Exeter are digging away at the Saracens line.

They have an advantage, but can't find a breakthrough from close range.

  11. try

    Ben Spencer, con missed Farrell

    Maro ItojeImage source, Rex Features

Sarries sent big Billy Vunipola peeling off the back of the scrum and he hits the Exeter defence with some force.

Then they go through the phases and the big men wear away at the Chiefs resistance.

Then, with their guard down, Ben Spencer steps inside through a gap and touches down.

Owen Farrell misses the conversion again, pulling this one to the left of the posts from the right.

  12. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Exeter 7-8 Saracens

The scrum is re-set. Not much longer for the Chiefs to survive with 14 men...

But Sarries get a free-kick from the scrum.

Mark McCall's side call for another set piece.

  13. 'Trying it on'published at 15:15 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Exeter 7-8 Saracens

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

They're trying it on in the breakdown. It's an obvious tactic from Exeter.

At all costs they're going to put pressure on in the breakdown to say 'go on, clear us out'.

They're going to apply a bit of pressure to Wayne Barnes - will he make those big decisions?

An international class referee like Wayne Barnes is not going to shirk any of those calls.

  14. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Exeter 7-8 Saracens

Saracens build again, with some great offloads in the tackle.

They move the ball towards the left flank as the look for space on the outside but Billy Vunipola sends a pop-pass forward and Exeter have a chance to eat up a few seconds before a scrum.

  15. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Exeter 7-8 Saracens

A low kick from Owen Farrell is gathered by Jack Nowell just in front of the Exeter line, and the Chiefs winger does well to wriggle away from a couple of men, before Nic White can clear with a box kick.

But Saracens gather and come again.

  16. Penalty (Farrell)published at 10 mins

Saracens and England fly-half Owen Farrell makes no mistake with his kick this time around, and the north Londoners are in front for the first time.

Still with a man advantage for another three minutes or so. Can they turn the screw?

    Exeter 7-5 Saracens

Saracens get a penalty as an Exeter man fails to roll away from the tackle.

Dave Ewers was the culprit there.

Owen Farrell will go for goal here, some 40 metres out, over to the left-hand side.

  18. 'Not 100%'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 1 June 2019

    Exeter 7-5 Saracens

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

This is not 100% from Exeter - great start and a great try but they've dropped their own kick-off, coughed the ball up in midfield, given a penalty away and a yellow card.

If you expect to be winning against this Saracens side - the amount of mistakes they've made there in one minute they've got to make in 80 minutes.

  19. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Exeter 7-5 Saracens

Exeter scrum-half Nic White kicks for territory from just inside his own half but the ball goes into the Sarries in-goal area... and then goes dead.

Back we come for a Saracens scrum.

Exeter have Slade in the bin for just over six more minutes.

  20. try

Try: Exeter 7-5 Saracenspublished at 4 mins

    Jamie George, con missed Farrell

    Jamie GeorgeImage source, Rex Features

From the line-out, it's a simple catch and drive for the Saracens maul.

Jamie George is the man who touches down.

But - am I seeing this right? - Owen Farrell misses the extras from the left-hand side.

Five minutes in, two tries and Exeter down to 14 men.

    A blistering start
