    Scarlets 7-0 Edinburgh

    Wow, that was fantastic!

Johnny McNicholl nabs Dan Jones' sneaky quick drop-out and he's away. The Kiwi makes it over halfway before popping on to Gareth Davies.

Scarlets are swaggering now, and they're into the Edinburgh 22.

  2. Edinburgh attack but no dicepublished at 24 mins

    Scarlets 7-0 Edinburgh

Now it's Edinburgh's turn to put some phases together, and WP Nel is involved again, magnificently plucking a dusty Jaco van der Walt pass out of the air one-handed and clinging on through contact.

The attack ends with a probing kick that bounces just too far and is grounded for a 22 drop-out.

  3. Ferocious breakdown battlepublished at 20 mins

    Scarlets 7-0 Edinburgh

The breakdown battle is absolutely fearsome.

Jonathan Davies latches over Duhan van der Merwe as the winger tries to steal a few yards on his tod.

  4. Penalty Scarlets!published at 18 mins

    Scarlets 7-0 Edinburgh

Another scrum penalty to Scarlets. That's a big, big win for them.

George Clancy surveyed the wreckage of that set-piece for several seconds before deciding on the correct course of action.

It looks like his assistant spotted WP Nel slipping his bind and alerted Clancy.

Either way, Scarlets relieve the pressure.

  5. Burrowing Nelpublished at 14 mins

    Scarlets 7-0 Edinburgh

What a wonderful turnover penalty won by WP Nel, who has already made five tackles in the opening 14 minutes or so.

He gets himself low over the ball and frankly it would take several sticks of dynamite to shift him from his entrenched position.

Edinburgh boot play downfield and show some signs of attacking life with Hamish Watson on a trademark fizzing run towards the 22.

Darcy Graham stabs a kick into touch at the corner. Scarlets win the line-out, but try-scorer Gareth Davies fumbles the ball forward right on his own line.

Scrum-five, Edinburgh ball. Can they hit back?

  6. Hallfpenny's telling influencepublished at 13 mins

    Scarlets 7-0 Edinburgh

    Gareth Griffiths
BBC Sport Wales at Parc y Scarlets

Full-back Leigh Halfpenny has missed a lot of the season through concussion but has now been back for a month and is showing some of his old skills with the break that led to the Gareth Davies try. He also added the conversion.

He'll provide back-three competition to Wales' Grand Slam winning trio of Liam Williams, Josh Adams and George North.

  7. converted try

Converted try Scarlets 7-0 Edinburghpublished at 12 mins

    Gareth Davies

Scarlets have the breakthrough! Or do they...?

There were a couple of suspiciously forward-looking passes in an otherwise brilliant attacking move.

The replays suggest they were fine, though. Fantastic stuff from a really quick-fire attacking team, Halfpenny cutting a brilliant line and sending Davies over.

The Wales and Lions full-back knocks over the conversion.

And Scarlets win a penalty from the restart into the bargain. They've been the team in command so far.

  8. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Scarlets 0-0 Edinburgh

Scrum penalty Scarlets against WP Nel, who George Clancy reckons brings the set-piece down.

Scarlets go for the corner, then Gareth Davies stabs a teasing kick towards the Edinburgh posts.

Duhan van der Merwe scoops it up and Pyrgos again box-kicks his side out of danger.

  9. Mata monsteredpublished at 8 mins

    Scarlets 0-0 Edinburgh

And that's a brilliant bit of defensive work from the hosts.

Big Bill Mata embarks on his first rumble but he's excellently held up by Rawlins and Cummins, the two Scarlets second-rows, the ball is cocooned and the region get the scrum.

  10. Barclay burgalspublished at 7 mins

    Scarlets 0-0 Edinburgh

Cracking defence from Edinburgh. John Barclay is a total iend over ball and latches on to the isolated Rob Evans, winning a penalty.

That's an early boon for Cockerill's men, keeping Scarlets out in a pretty intense early period of attack.

  11. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Scarlets 0-0 Edinburgh

Leigh Halfpenny stabs a probing grubber kick in behind the Edinburgh defence, but Darcy Graham scampers across smartly and weathers a huge hit from Ken Owens to secure possession.

Henry Pyrgos box-kicks Edinburgh clear but the Scarlets will have a line-out near their 10m line.

  12. Scarlets off and runningpublished at 3 mins

    Scarlets 0-0 Edinburgh

The Scarlets get their hands on the ball and test out the away defence early on.

Jonathan Davies barrels up the left flank and surges into Edinburgh territory.

The home side are into double figures on the phase count here, and they're inching towards the Scottish team's 22.

    Scarlets v Edinburgh (18:45)

This will be a special afternoon for John Barclay, who takes on the team with whom he enjoyed some of the finest years of his career.

The back-row had a fantastic five-year spell with Scarlets, captaining them in their Pro12 final victory over Munster in 2017.

The Scotland skipper ruptured his Achilles in last year's semi-final - against another former side in Glasgow Warriors - and had to wait 10 months to make his Edinburgh debut in March.

  16. 'We want to qualify by right' - Cockerillpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Scarlets v Edinburgh (18:45)

"We want to be back in the Champions Cup and we want to qualify by right," said Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill.

"They're all exciting games and even more so if you win them. We've got to test ourselves. Nothing has changed from the start of the year.

"We dropped short last weekend and now we've got three huge games. If we win them all, we'll probably finish in the top three, we're in the play-offs and we're into Europe. If we drop one of those, we're going to have to rely on other people.

"Scarlets will have a lot of that Welsh team coming back in, especially in that backline and in the front-row.

"So we expect a very tough game and whoever wins it will either stay above or jump above the other."

    Scarlets v Edinburgh (18:45)

"We are alive in the play-off race, that is the attitude of this group," said Scarlets head coach Wayne Pivac.

"We need to make sure we are defensively up for this game which we weren't against the Blues.

"If we can get three wins from our final three games, we will see what happens with games involving the other sides battling for a top-three place.

"We believe there is still an opportunity to finish third and even second."

  18. Edinburgh's back-row brilliancepublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Scarlets v Edinburgh (18:45)

John Barclay forms part of a tremendous Edinburgh back-row - there won't be many finer units than this in European rugby.

Viliame "Bill" Mata is the Pro14's top carrier with 244 and the Fijian is one of the form number eights in the game with his dynamism, intelligence and off-loading dexterity.

Completing the triumvirate is the snarling, all-action Scotland open-side Hamish Watson, a man who punches way above his weight.

  19. Pivac leaves out Patchellpublished at 18:38 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

    Scarlets v Edinburgh (18:45)

Scarlets have decided to leave out Wales fly-half Rhys Patchell from the match-day squad for tactical reasons.

Dan Jones starts at 10 and Wales centre Parkes, who starts at 12, will provide the fly-half cover.

  20. Deadly Duhanpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 6 April 2019

Duhan van der Merwe has beaten more defenders than anyone else in this season's Pro14.

The hulking Edinburgh winger has gone past 61 would-be tacklers, scoring eight tries in 15 league games.
