Peter Holmes: What a performance from Japan, they’ve been fighting for their lives out there. Incredible result this would be

The Japan bench explodes upwards in joy as the final whistle blows! The replacements streak onto to the pitch, running helter-skelter with joy.

The Brave Blossoms on the pitch wilt with effort expended.

In the stands there are tears of joy.

What a game. What a result.

Japan's defence has been very good, their attack has been better.

Ireland are masters of their own downfall and it will take something remarkable for them to pull something out of the bag and salvage a draw.

I think the field position Japan have... this is the sort of thing that happens when you're chasing the game and I think we're going to see a famous win.

This group is now wide open.

    INTERCEPTION!

Kenki Fukuoka for the line...can he get there!

No! Keith Earls, with a lung-busting run, gets back to make the tackle just in time.

But Japan will have the put-in to a scrum five out after an Ireland knock-on.

Surely the game is the hosts now...

It's just about doable but not if Ireland defend in the same way, the Japanese made 50 metres off two phases after Ireland had a great opportunity to block them down by the corner in the park.

This Japanese team, as competent as they have been, are not one of the best in the world so there are questions over what Ireland are doing in their defence.

Andrew Priestley: Struggling to remember the last time a Joe Schmidt Ireland side made this many mistakes and looked this shaky on their gameplan.

Saidmadrid: Excellent work by the Japanese in attack, they went through the phases, never panicked, passing the ball, quick hands, accuracy, then the try...japan on the driving seat.

Kritt: I think, right now, Japan is everyone's second favourite team. Imagine the scenes if they win!

Japan are a converted score clear with eight points to go.

This is no smash-and-grab heist. The hosts have been excellent for the last hour, while Ireland have been poor after a solid start.

The Japan fly-half will have a shot from 35m out and central for a seven-point lead...

    Shane Horgan
Former Ireland wing on BBC Radio 5 Live

Ireland are trying to get a bit more width, offload the ball, but it looks like a team that hasn't planned for it and feels a little bit panicky and pushed into it.

The slowness of the ball at the breakdown in contrast to both Japanese 9s - we're not seeing any ingenuity and instead a slow ponderous pass to the first standing receiver either side of a ruck.
