    New Zealand 28-0 Canada

Gordon McRorie pops the ball in touch and that will be that for the first period.

New Zealand have been dominant but a few mistakes and dropped balls have given Canada good field position on occasion.

Nonetheless, the bonus point is in the bag and the defending champions look slick in attack.

These sloppy mistakes continue to mount for the world champions.

There is not a red shirt within 10 metres of Patrick Tuipulotu but the lock drops a simple catch.

The camera turns to Steve Hansen, who looks less than impressed.

Scott Barrett runs the line of a centre to cut back and get over the Canadian line, but the lock spills the ball just before it's grounded.

He smacks the turf in frustration and the All Blacks will have to wait to secure the bonus point.

We are used to talking about Beuden Barrett and his attacking abilities, but he is also a great defender.

There have been two interventions in this first half to keep his side from conceding a try.

Canada have definitely enjoyed a brighter spell in the last 10 minutes and they are nearly in.

Ciaran Hearn stabs the ball through but Beauden Barrett is as cool as you like as he scampers across to collect the ball inside his 22.

He fends off a couple of red shirts to buy enough time for his team-mates to ruck him out of trouble.

    Classy operator.

We have seen so many knock-ons at this tournament because of the humidity and the sweat on the ball.

The All Blacks, who are usually the best in the business at retaining the ball, have lost possession a couple of times.

Rieko Ioane is the guilty party on this occasion and Canada will have the scrum.

The ball is spilled forward and the All Blacks will have the scrum to relieve the pressure.

That's the difference between the two sides and you can bet your bottom dollar that New Zealand would have scored from that position at the other end.

The agony on the fans' faces says it all.

Canada roll through the phases and they win the penalty as Kieran Read makes a no-arms tackle on the line.

It's popped into touch and Canada will have the line-out five metres from the All Black line.

    Chance.

  11. Chance for Canada!published at 21 mins

    New Zealand 21-0 Canada

Canada have decided not to contest the line-out anymore as Scott Barrett is thrown up, unopposed, to claim the ball for New Zealand.

It's released to the backs but Sonny Bill Williams knocks on in midfield and Canada are off.

Peter Nelson bursts clear and every step is being cheered by the crowd as he is hauled down just short by Beauden Barrett.

    Can they get over..?

Sonny Bill Williams has been outstanding so far, he has carried the ball strongly, looked for his options and got others involved.

Canada have to look for a way of slowing the ball down, because the pace that the ball is being recycled is a massive threat. The All Blacks are making yards every time they get the ball.

    Dummy. Step. Try.

It is that easy for New Zealand at the moment as Sonny Bill Williams steps back against the traffic to ride a tackle and score the All Blacks' third try.

TJ Perenara picks up at the base of the ruck before diving over the bodies to lunge for the line.

The scrum-half is just short and he is deemed to be in touch so Canada will have the line-out on their own five-metre line.

    Pressure on.

We're 11 minutes in and Canada finally have some front foot ball. Ciaran Hearn throws the pass behind the runner and it's loose but the red shirts gather the ball.

It's chipped in the air and Beauden Barrett spills forward but Canada kick through again, and this time Richie Mo'unga clears his lines.

The All Blacks are running for the space in between players, sucking in defenders and disrupting the Canada defensive line. It is not complicated, but it is really effective.

  20. try

Converted Try - New Zealand 14-0 Canadapublished at 8 mins

    Jordie Barrett (con Richie Mo'unga)

Richie Mo'unga looks to his right and Jordie Barrett is in acres of space.

The fly-half kicks wide and the winger is like a fielder in the deep, waiting for the ball to drop before taking it over the line unopposed.

It's simple rugby and the All Blacks look so slick early on and Mo'unga kicks the conversion from close to the touchline.
