    Glasgow Warriors 13-16 Edinburgh

Penalty Glasgow. Ali Price goes quickly. Nic Groom isn't back 10m when he stops him. A fifth sin binning of the night and Glasgow put the ball into the corner. These are monumental moments...

  2. Glasgow press againpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 13-16 Edinburgh

Now it's Glasgow ball again, though, and an opportunity for the Warriors to snatch back the lead in the final five minutes. James Johnstone kicks out on the full and the home side are barrelling into the Edinburgh 22. The crowd are roaring their encouragement.

Suddenly the game has come alive. The turning point was that side entry penalty against Ruaridh Jackson - the one the referee actually picked up on.

    Blair Kinghorn

What a finale! Edinburgh pull ahead with eight minutes left!

It's another cracking score. Edinburgh shift the point of attack inside the Glasgow 22 really well, switching from left to right, their big forwards driving them deeper and deeper towards the line.

They whip left and Hamish Watson gives Blair Kinghorn a run up the left touchline. There are plenty of Glasgow defenders on hand, but the full-back steps with devastating power inside Huw Jones and powers through a despairing tackle to ground.

Jaco van der Walt lands the touchline conversion.

Glasgow smell blood now. Another probing kick up the left flank is hacked into touch within a few yards of the Edinburgh line.

Still, though, their discipline is proving costly. Ruaridh Jackson gives away a penalty in Edinburgh territory just as the Warriors are looking to kill the game.

They are playing the game that Glasgow like now - nice wide space, and they are upping the tempo.

Glasgow had an unopposed scrum. They got three phases of really quick ball, and the vision and execution from Hastings was outstanding, then ruthless finishing from Huw Jones and Ali Price.

  8. converted try

Converted try Glasgow Warriors 13- 9 Edinburghpublished at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Ali Price

Wow! That's an absolute pearler! Finally, at long, long last, we have a show-stopping moment of class.

Down to 14 men, Glasgow have delivered the goods. Adam Hastings spots space in behind the Edinburgh line and his delicate chip is gathered by Huw Jones. The centre sears into the away 22 and puts Ali Price in under the sticks for the first try of the game.

Hastings converts for a four-point lead. That was sensational - and it could be the match-winner with 13 minutes left.

  9. Hospital pass alertpublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 6-9 Edinburgh

I think Adam Hastings owes Ruaridh Jackson a pint. He's just set his full-back up for a complete dismembering by Duhan van der Merwe with a telegraphed pass.

Those are going to be some sore old ribs tomorrow.

  10. A brutally tight affairpublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 6-9 Edinburgh

We're into the final quarter now, and still so very little between these fearsome rivals.

Glasgow attack but Hastings' looping ball on halfway is too high for Ruaridh Jackson and Edinburgh will have the line-out.

Tommy Seymour got absolutely melted by Magnus Bradbury in the lead-up, so Niko Matawalu comes on to replace him. I'd like to see that hit again - it looked like Bradbury smashed him a bit high.

A change at fly-half for Edinburgh as Jaco van der Walt replaces Simon Hickey.

  12. So close for Seymourpublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow warriors 6-9 Edinburgh

Finally, some open prairie for a back to exploit. Tommy Seymour, one of Glasgow's longest-serving players, is put scampering up the blind-side by George Horne.

Seymour kicks ahead, but with a few white jerseys racing across to cover, the bouncing ball foils him and he can't hold on deep in the Edinburgh 22.

Stuart McInally returns from his sin bin period so Edinburgh have a man advantage. That also means Duhan van der Merwe's exile is over, with hooker Mike Willemse trooping back to the bench.

He braces for contact, which you're entitled to do, but it looks bad as George Horne bounces off him away a few metres.

  14. Thorny Hornepublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 6-9 Edinburgh

George Horne - and the Scotstoun crowd - are irate as the scrum-half is checked by George Taylor.

Horne kicked ahead but Taylor merely stood his ground as the pair collided. Another good call from referee Ben Blain.

  15. Penalty Glasgow Warriors 6-9 Edinburghpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Simon Hickey

What a shot that is. Little Simon Hickey produces a big, big kick. Edinburgh lead for the first time.

  16. Sin-bin George Turnerpublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 6-6 Edinburgh

Just like that, Glasgow's numerical advantage evaporates. George Turner flies in with a no-arms tackle and becomes the fourth player to be yellow-carded this evening.

Simon Hickey lines up a penalty attempt from nearly 50m.

  17. Edinburgh play keep-ballpublished at 19:04 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 6-6 Edinburgh

Edinburgh are keeping the ball and building phases just inside the Glasgow half without really going anywhere. They'll want to hang on to possession as long as they can while down to 14 men. They're effectively playing with 14 for 20 minutes straight given the back-to-back sin-binnings.

It's a tough one, and a massive decision not to red card him. At the end of the day, it's the player who goes in to make the tackle whose fault it is, not the player with the ball.

That could be a red card - he made contact with the head with his shoulder. It's a red card from me, anyway.

  20. Sin-bin Stuart McInallypublished at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2019

    Glasgow Warriors 6-6 Edinburgh

Just as Edinburgh are restored to their full compliment, they lose another forward to the sin bin.

McInally caught Brown on the head, but the Glasgow hooker had been tackled low by Pierre Schoeman and was already on his way down at a rate of knots.

That sudden change in height saves McInally from a red card rather than a yellow.

Brown, who has a history of brain injury, is off for a head injury assessment. I'd be surprised if we see him again. George Turner is on.

Edinburgh have sacrificed Van der Merwe to bring on Mike Willemse at hooker during the sin-bin period.
