    Ireland 7-6 Scotland

Garry Ringrose almost puts in Andrew Conway on the right wing there, but Scotland are awarded the penalty as Peter O'Mahony this time clatters into someone off the ball.

    Relief there for the visitors!

    Ireland 7-6 Ireland

Scotland hooker Fraser Brown is pinged for taking out the man with the ball in the air, and Ireland kick the penalty deep.

They've had one foray forward so far, Ireland, and scored. What now?

On balance, even though Ireland are a point ahead, Gregor Townsend has to be the happier of the two coaches. Scotland have started really well.

    Ireland 7-6 Scotland

Another chance for Scotland goes a begging, but great defence by Ireland again. Sam Johnson made a half break but as the forwards were advancing, Peter O'Mahony, the old warrior, pilfers the ball.

The more Ireland hold out, the more they'll feel they've got Scotland's number.

    Ireland 7-6 Scotland

Ireland safely negotiate their way out of danger, then steal Scotland's line-out. But a kicking exchange results in Huw Jones almost getting hold of a bouncing ball, but it trickles into touch.

    It'll be a Scotland line-out though, it's a good chance.

Well it basically took Ireland seven minutes to get their hands on the ball but that's a lovely try to get things going for Andy Farrell and co.

Cian Healy throwing a pop pass there appeared about as likely Mick McCarthy being allowed in that entrance gate.

There will have been a discreet high fives in the coaches box when that one paid off.

    Ireland 7-6 Scotland

Frustrating for Scotland as a lack of composure costs them. Fraser Brown can't get the ball under his oxter at the maul and it's spilled. Chance gone.

Ireland go off their feet at the ruck and Stuart Hogg blasts a penalty deep into the opposition half. That right boot really is a weapon. Scotland lineout about 7m out...

The perfect response by Scotland as Hastings converts the penalty from wide-left. It's a one-point game.

    Ireland 7-3 Scotland

Scotland have the chance to respond immediately as they get the scrum. Ireland exited their 22 nicely but there was a fumbled ball in the process.

When you talk about the dream. On the day of your first day as captain in a Six Nations game... Johnny Sexton and Conor Murray combined perfectly then.

Converted try - Ireland 7-3 Scotlandpublished at 10 mins

    Johnny Sexton

    Lovely score, very simple!

The big men did the hard yards, then Conor Murray drove out left to take advantage of Scotland's narrow defence, then the Ireland scrum-half finds his partner in crime Sexton to waltz over.

The Irish captain then knocks over the conversion. Clinical.

    Ireland 0-3 Scotland

Ireland get the penalty just outside the Scotland 22 as Nick Haining is pinged for holding on after he pounced on the loose ball.

Johnny Sexton chooses to kick the ball into the corner to test the Scottish defence...

Full-back Jordan Larmour slices through the Scotland defence and Ireland are up outside the 22 for the first time.

The penalty is certainly no more than the Scots deserve given the way they started this game.

  18. Penalty- Ireland 0-3 Scotlandpublished at 5 mins

    Adam Hastings

Adam Hastings slots an easy three-pointer and Scotland are on the board. That should settle the fly-half's nerves.

  19. Replacement - Doris head injurypublished at 4 mins

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

So much excitement about what Caelan Doris could do in the back-row for Ireland, and it looks as though his international debut is over due to injury before it's even started really. A real shame. Peter O'Mahony is coming on, though, not a bad replacement.
