Of course, now that this final has finally come round, things are very different to how they would've looked had the season finished under its original schedule in mid-June.

There is of course no crowd allowed in for what is the first match at Twickenham since the coronavirus lockdown suspended both domestic and international rugby union in early March.

There should've been another match here tomorrow between England and Barbarians, but Covid-19 protocol breaches by 12 of the squad earlier this week forced it to be cancelled.

When you arrive here as a member of the working media, you are required to pass all the relevant health screening such as having your temperature taken and wearing a face mask in working areas.

The media are all spread out across the press boxes too and can only sit in designated seats both before and after the match.

It's also a real sign of the times when you pull up in your car that the North Car Park is out of use because it is used as a Covid-19 testing centre.

Friday 18 October, 2019. Bristol 43-16 Bath at Ashton Gate.

That evening was the opening night of the 2019-20 Premiership season.

A mere 372 days later, it will finally reach its crescendo here at Twickenham for the final.

Few people would've predicted it would take as long as that to determine the latest champion or that the defending champions would be relegated by January for misdemeanours off the field.

One thing is for sure, the Premiership will never see a season like this again.

There's just one thing left to decide - who takes away the tall, shiny trophy this evening? Will it be newly-crowned European champions Exeter Chiefs to complete an historic double or will Wasps put aside their disrupted preparations to cause a famous upset?

It all gets started in the next half hour so strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride!
