    Wales 6-3 Ireland

At last, Wales force a turnover and they think they're away on a counter-attack inside their own 22 - but they're called back for a forward pass from George North to Louis Rees-Zammit.

Confirmation that centre Nick Tompkins is on for Johnny Williams permanently after he failed a head injury assessment.

Johnny will be pleased with that. You always want to land your first kick as a fly-half. That will give him the confidence to keep driving on the team.

    Wales 6-3 Ireland

Wales have barely had the ball since Peter O'Mahony's red.

Ireland are on the attack again, centre Garry Ringrose almost breaking free.

The away side retain possession and James Lowe tries to wriggle his way out of a tight space on the left wing to no avail - but it's all Ireland.

    Jamie Heaslip
Former Ireland number eight on BBC One

Ireland will be very happy to get on the board and keep it ticking over, within an arm's distance of Wales.

Well not many were expecting that from the opening half an hour.

Wales on top and Ireland down to 14 men with Wayne Pivac's side now having a golden opportunity to kick off the 2021 Six Nations with a victory.

The latest Ireland attacks show Andy Farrell's 14 men will not lie down.

  8. Penalty - Wales 6-3 Irelandpublished at 30 mins

    Johnny Sexton

Ireland captain and fly-half Johnny Sexton lines up a penalty from the 10-metre line, and it's good.

Ireland are off the mark and, since they've been reduced to 14 men, you'd have to say they've been the better team.

    Ian Gough
Former Wales international on BBC Radio Wales

There's been a host of substitutions already, there's people getting damaged out there.

It's a full-blooded Test match even though we don't have the full-blooded atmosphere we normally have.

    Wales 6-0 Ireland

Wales pinch Ireland's line-out in the Welsh 22 - that's a result for Wayne Pivac's men after their set-piece struggles of late.

Dan Biggar clears and, in the meantime, there's confirmation that Iain Henderson has replaced James Ryan permanently.

There's then another penalty for Ireland - Josh Navidi not releasing in the tackle - and Johnny Sexton will kick at goal.

    Wales 6-0 Ireland

How about that from Josh Navidi?

Wales look to be in trouble after dropping the ball from a scrum, but their dreadlocked flanker stoops to the ground and scoops up a lovely pass for Dan Biggar to clear.

Ireland are then awarded a penalty, which Johnny Sexton will kick to the corner.

  14. HIA replacementpublished at 24 mins

    Wales 6-0 Ireland

Two temporary head injury assessment replacements have just come on.

Nick Tompkins on for Johnny Williams for Wales and Iain Henderson on for James Ryan for Ireland.

  15. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Wales 6-0 Ireland

Good defending from George North, who's playing at outside centre for Wales today and wraps up Robbie Henshaw.

Ireland keep possession just outside the Welsh 22, with Tomos Williams then putting in a fine tackle.

Still Ireland have the ball and they look to have some space in the 13 channel, only for Garry Ringrose to be well tackled by Dan Biggar.

This is patient from Ireland but their phases end in disappointment as they knock on. Solid defence from Wales.

    Wales 6-0 Ireland

Ireland have a scrum just outside Wales' 22 and it's stable, a decent platform for an attack.

Wales centre Johnny Williams looks to have hurt himself making a thumping tackle and still the Irish pour forward.

Johnny Sexton opts to kick and Wales have a line-out near their own try line. This time it's accurate and Tomos Williams clears.

  19. Penalty - Wales 6-0 Irelandpublished at 19 mins

    Leigh Halfpenny

Wales move the ball wide but they can't find the killer pass to right wing Louis Rees-Zammit.

They'll come back for the penalty advantage. Leigh Halfpenny has another kick at goal, from the 10-metre line in a central position, and he slots it over.

    Ideal start for Wales.
