  1. Captain Jones watching in the standspublished at 70 mins

The cameras find Alun Wyn Jones in the stands. There is no obvious strapping on his left shoulder or wrist.

The Lions captain is wearing a tracksuit top, so who knows what is going on underneath but the absence of a sling hopefully suggests the injury that saw him leave the field in the first 10 minutes won't keep him out for too long.

This time Yu Tamura makes no mistake. Japan are into double figures.

Japan have looked the more dangerous of the two sides for the last 10 minutes or so.

They're hovering on the Lions' 22 again and get yet another penalty, this time for offside.

The Lions website says they've conceded eight penalties so far. It feels like three or four of those have come in the last 10 minutes.

It was never going to be easy mentally for Yu Tamura given he didn't really want to kick at goal.

    His effort swings left.

The Lions are losing a bit of momentum now. They're handing out penalties all over the place.

Yu Tamura wanted to kick to the corner again, but the kicking tee had already come on so the Japan fly-half has to go for goal. Dan Biggar made sure to point that out to referee Pascal Gauzere.

The Lions concede a penalty on Japan's 22, giving the Brave Blossoms the chance to clear their lines.

They'll have a line-out just inside the Lions' half.

    Kazuki Himeno

    They've done it!

Replacement Kazuki Himeno plays the Lions at their own game. He finds a gap at the back of the line-out and with a little help from a friend drives his way across the line.

Yu Tamura adds another two points.

The Lions would love to keep a clean sheet, but they are being tested as we approach the final quarter.

Japan creep back into the Lions' half and the hosts give away a penalty, which Yu Tamura kicks to the corner.

Japan were building through the phases but Josh Adams puts a stern end to things by picking up his opposition number and dumping him on the floor.

The Brave Blossoms retain possession, but are contained back in their 22.

  13. Replacementpublished at 56 mins

British and Irish Lions 28-0 Japan

Owen Farrell takes to the field at inside centre, with Bundee Aki heading off. It will be interesting to see how he and Dan Biggar combine now.

Ken Owens leaves the field too and is replaced by Jamie George.

Beirne finished a fabulous try with a great line and that isn't the only skill he has to offer the Lions.

He had more turnovers in the 2021 Six Nations than any other player. That could come in handy against the Springboks.

Tadhg Furlong leaves the field and is replaced by Kyle Sinckler. It's an extra special moment for Sinckler, who wasn't included in the original squad.

He spoke frankly about how emotional the experience of being left out had been and was later included when Andrew Porter suffered an injury.

On the other side of the front row, Rory Sutherland is replaced by Wyn Jones.

    Tadhg Beirne (Con Biggar)

    There was no stopping him.

A gorgeous line from flanker Tadhg Beirne sees him fly onto an offload from Dan Biggar, barrelling through a tackle and finding plenty of space to cover the length of the 22 and score.

That makes it three debutant scores. An excellent day at Murrayfield.

Dan Biggar makes it four kicks from four too. He's putting in a decent bid to be the Lions' Test 10.

The Lions are throwing the ball around but Japan are all over it as their defence gets higher and higher, pushing the red jerseys back.

Duhan van der Merwe has a couple of goes at the wall of blue but it's no good.

Scrap that. Is it a knock-on?

Courtney Lawes twisted round as he made his way over the line and in the process lost control of the ball.

Wait a minute, the TMO wants to check whether it was a knock-on from Liam Williams.

There was. OK. At least it was cleared up quickly.
