Andrew Priestley: The first real test of the series. This game will tell us more about the Lions' defensive prowess than it will about their attacking ability that has been excellent so far in the series.

Converted try - South Africa A 10-0 British and Irish Lionspublished at 13 mins

    Sbu Nkosi (Con Steyn)

    He is!

Eben Etzebeth charges down the kick of Owen Farrell and hands it to the wheels of Sbu Nkosi.

Farrell can get nowhere near with Damian de Allende in the way and Louis Rees-Zammit tries his best but even his speed isn't enough to stop the South Africa wing.

    Morne Steyn slots the conversion.

South Africa A 3-0 British and Irish Lions

The Lions find no luck with a maul of the line-out and immediately give away a penalty on the floor.

It feels like South Africa have had the upper hand in the first 10 minutes. That was the Lions' first real attack and it lasted a matter of seconds.

Aaaaand the scrum collapses three times.

The Lions come away with the penalty and Owen Farrell smashes the ball into the corner.

Faf de Klerk is testing the Lions with box-kicks again.

The visitors win a scrum and we all get a bit of a break while they work out how to keep it up.

    Morne Steyn

Morne Steyn ended Lions dreams with a last-gasp penalty in the second Test in 2009.

He's slotted this one too but in slightly less dramatic fashion.

That is excellent work from Watson. Nkosi's left foot is in touch way before he gets the ball down.

No try and we'll instead come back for a penalty for offside. The Springboks are going to kick to the posts.

The size of this challenge is incomparable to all the games they've played so far.

Faf de Klerk deals the final kicking blow and has Anthony Watson scrambling back but the Lions wing is good for it.

South Africa are looming dangerously inside the Lions' 22 though.

South Africa A 0-0 British and Irish Lions

Such has been the disarray imposed on the Lions by a tour in the coronavirus age, they keep playing in shirts with the wrong numbers.

It happened last week when several players were isolating and again Liam Williams is wearing 11 when he is playing full-back after being drafted in as a late replacement for Josh Adams.

In case you missed the news, Adams is on Zoom for the birth of his first child.

Back to the rugby, both sides engage in a bit of kick tennis.

South Africa A 0-0 British and Irish Lions

Liam Williams takes the first of what are surely going to many Faf de Klerk box-kicks expertly.

He cops a big knock from Eben Etzebeth as thanks and needs some treatment... but he's back up and we get going again.

Think we can expect plenty more brutal hits like that.
