It will be interesting to see if Eddie Jones picks the same back line he did against Australia when they play South Africa.

Though Manu Tuilagi's shift on the wing wasn't as catastrophic as many predicted, Adam Radwan performed better last week. But is Tuilagi droppable? And if not does he start again on the wing or is Farrell, Smith or Slade at risk?

  3. Where do Australia go from here?published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2021

    FT: England 32-15 Australia

Dave Rennie has said his team are much better than they were at Twickenham.

There were glimpses of the team they can be but yellow cards and a huge penalty count meant they couldn't grind out the win.

This is the second loss on the bounce for the Aussies after they were defeated by Scotland last week. They will play Wales next week which should be a close encounter at the Principality Stadium

  4. 'We want a South African scalp'published at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2021

Eddie Jones seemed happy with the result when speaking post-match.

"We stuck at it. We've had a tough week. Two Covid cases, Sinckler was injured in the first 10 minutes of the match - he was incapacitated. Australia have been in a bubble since June, so congrats to them for staying in it.

"[South Africa] It's the final game and we want to go into the Six Nations with a South African scalp."

    FT: England 32-15 Australia

There will be a rematch of the World Cup final next week when South Africa travels to Twickenham.

Both sides are heading into the match with a victory - England's against Australia and South Africa's victory over Scotland earlier today.

Players have given Eddie Jones a lot to think about with Sam Simmonds, Jamie Blamire and Alex Dombrandt impressing. But with Jones selection is very difficult to predict.

  6. 'We know we can be better than that'published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2021

England captain Owen Farrell told Amazon: "[Injury] It's okay, it was just a bang. My foot got landed on. It's a bit swollen, it'll be alright.

"We did what we needed to do. Playing against Australia is always a big game. We take what we did today but we know we can be better than that."

And he added about his partnership with Marcus Smith: "I thought it was OK. I think it can get a lot better. The lads did a lot of good work last week against Tonga... we need to make sure we build on it. We want this team playing to all their strengths, we are trying to work as hard as we can."

A funny game to sum up, with England showing glimpses of real quality interspersed with inaccuracy and scruffiness.

Plenty of individuals stood out – Courtney Lawes, Tom Curry, Freddie Steward to name a few – but there was a lack of consistent cohesion which they will need to improve on with the world champions in town next week.

  8. 'It's just unbelievable'published at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2021

    FT: England 32-15 Australia

Player of the match Freddie Steward told Amazon Prime: "It's an incredible experience. Running out in front of 80,000 here, it's the stuff of dreams.

"Marcus [Smith] was brilliant, he put me through the gap, I dived over and it was just elation.

"Joining the likes of Faz [Farrell] and Maro [Itoje] - who have hit milestones today - it's just unbelievable."

    FT: England 32-15 Australia

The scoring got underway with an early James O'Connor penalty.

However, England hit back through the individual brilliance of Freddie Steward and with Owen Farrell adding the extras England went 7-3 up.

Tom Wright saw yellow for his shoulder hitting Jamie George's head. George almost scored but Nic White put in a huge tackle to dislodge the ball. Half-time stood at 16-12.

The second half started just as the first with the boot of O'Connor.

Angus Bell then was sin binned for a tip tackle on Courtney Lawes and Farrell's boot once again extended England's lead.

Alex Dombrandt made a great break but no-one was in support which saw one of the best passage's of play for Australia.

Worries came for both teams as both captains, Michael Hooper and Farrell, went off injured.

England managed the game well, opting for penalty kicks from Farrell and Marcus Smith.

And Jamie Blamire continued his incredible try record with another score.

    He's always scoring!

Jamie Blamire has now scored in four Tests in a row.

Sam Simmonds grabs a loose ball and heads off down the left wing. He finds Jamie Blamire inside him and the hooker slides across the try-line.

Never mind Manu on the wing, Simmonds is ready for it. Marcus Smith nails an impressive conversion from the left touchline.

England switch to go left, but Kurtley Beale nabs the ball off Henry Slade and that attack is swiftly puffed out.

Freddie Steward is chosen as man of the match after an extremely solid performance considering the few caps he has.

    "Boring!"

A few heckles from the stands as England fall back on a more familiar kicking game in the final quarter.

With the game still in the balance have they opted for a well-worn tactic rather than a brave new world?
