Ireland have just conceded their first penalty of the game for collapsing that maul, in the 54th minute. It's impressive stuff.

Defensively they have been bang on the money today. There have been a few occasions where they've made a sloppy error in attack but when you're this dominant you'll get away with it.

The irony of that Josh Adams' yellow card was Wales had just been awarded a first penalty of the afternoon in the 48th minute.

But they never received it as South African referee Jaco Peyper reversed the decision and Ireland go up the field and score through Andrew Conway.

    Ireland 24-0 Wales

Dewi Lake's first involvement is to get the ball back after a line-out, only to then get tackled into touch.

Ireland clear. It's all rather comfortable for the hosts.

Ross Moriarty is the big change here for Wales. He's a big runner and that's something Wales need because Taine Basham is the only player able to get any kind of momentum from the pack.

Ireland start using their bench, with flanker Peter O'Mahony among those to enter the fray.

Wales hooker Dewi Lake is on for his debut in place of Ryan Elias.

Flanker Ross Moriarty is on too. He's angry most of the time, he'll be furious now.

A scintillating set-piece there from Ireland, but it was easy in the end to find the gap with Wales a player down. They stayed patient, didn't try to force it and Conway had acres of space.

  7. try

    Andrew Conway

Ireland waste no time in making their man advantage count.

Josh van der Flier gets the attack going as he bursts into the Welsh 22.

James Ryan then carries well, taking Ireland to within a couple of metres of the Welsh try line, before Tadhg Berin goes close.

Wales, a man down, cannot regroup in time and the ball is thrown wide to the right, where Andrew Conway trots over for his second try.

Johnny Sexton has another difficult conversion and again he uses the wind brilliantly to swerve the ball between the posts.

He doesn't hit his head, but it's a shoulder charge and it's reckless and unnecessary.

  9. Sin-bin - Josh Adamspublished at 49 mins

    Ireland 17-0 Wales

Tommy Bowe might be right. The replays don't look good for Adams.

"Nowhere near the ball. It's reckless," says Jaco Peyper as he shows Adams a yellow card.

I don't think Josh Adams was going for the ball at all, he's looking straight at Johnny Sexton.

Wales were playing with a penalty advantage but it might be overturned.

TMO Stuart Terheege is having a look at a collision between Josh Adams and Johnny Sexton.

It looks like Adams' shoulder catches Sexton as he goes for a loose ball.

    Ireland 17-0 Wales

Taine Basham puts in a big hit on Johnny Sexton and the ball spills out of the Ireland skipper's hands and Wales snaffle possession.

Again the Irish defence is firm but Wales are inching their way forward in the opposition half.

    Ireland 17-0 Wales

    Tom Shanklin
Former Wales international on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

There's no pace on the ball for Wales. Louis Rees-Zammit is being forced to kick because he's not being given any space at all.

  14. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Ireland 17-0 Wales

Wales have the ball in the Irish half but it's all a bit slow and lateral before Rees-Zammit throws a forward pass.

  15. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Ireland 17-0 Wales

Liam Williams goes all John Virgo and brings out his trick shot, passing through his legs to Louis Rees-Zammit, who keeps it simple and boots the ball downfield.

That was a brilliant finish from Conway. He's one-on-one with Rees-Zammit and his momentum takes him over the line in the end.

    Andrew Conway

Referee Jaco Peyper is going upstairs to see whether or not Andrew Conway has scored a try for Ireland.

The wing is stretching for the line in the right corner. It looks like a try.

TMO Stuart Terheege agrees and the try is given.

Johnny Sexton uses the wind to his advantage with an excellent, bending conversion from the right wing.

Ireland's maul drives forward and it's illegally brought down.

Another penalty, another kick to the corner. Irish pressure mounting.

Wales prop Tomas Francis came onto the field in the second half deep in discussion with one of the assistant referees.

Presumably asking why did not have a scrum penalty in the first half after his duel with Andrew Porter.

The Ospreys prop will be hoping for more reward in the second half.

  20. Postpublished at 42 mins

Tomos Williams box-kicks clear for Wales but as Ireland march up towards halfway Josh Adams is offside.

Ireland don't make much of the advantage and play comes back for the penalty, which Sexton kicks to touch in the Welsh 22.

    Ireland on the attack again.
