Alexandra Tessier sends a tester up for England wing Abby Dow. Thankfully for Dow, Fabiola Forteza was in front of the kicker and quick as a flash England have another line-out in the corner.

England build through a couple of phases and are making their way down the field, but the ball is knocked on and that's the end of that.

Paige Farries gets a half break and Canada are a whisker away from the 22 now.

Replacement Renee Gonzalez has a bit of room on the left wing but drops the ball and England regain possession.

An impressive combination of Karen Paquin and Sabrina Poulin on the right wing gets Canada into England's half.

The visitors win a penalty too and kick to touch for a bit more territory.

Poppy Cleall gets things going early with a chargedown. The ball rebounds off her hands and into touch so nothing will come of it, but England have the chance to pressure a line-out close to Canada's 22.

The second half is under way and it is impossible to predict which way this one is going to go.

An exciting 40 minutes ahead.

"We knew all along this is going to be a tough game for us. I think people didn't really believe us.

"They are fantastically well-drilled and they are incredibly fit so they will keep going right to the end. What we've got is a really good Test match. These are the Test matches you want to play in.

"We've just got to stay in the fight."

Before this match, you might have been tempted to think England's wins against New Zealand make them a dead cert for next year's World Cup.

But not only are Canada a challenger for the title, France have claimed a record win of their own against the Black Ferns too.

Les Bleues beat New Zealand 38-13 on Saturday and we can expect the Black Ferns to get even better if they can get a few more Tests arranged over the next year.

It's all to play for at the showpiece tournament in 2022.

Canada have really met England with that physical battle, and more importantly have put a decent amount of points on the board.

Canada have almost played England at their own game of gaining ground and eating territory. It is really impressive, good in the scrum, getting over the gain line and gaining dominance.

England have to be composed and not overplay it in certain areas.

Well, well, well. Plenty turned up to the Stoop today expecting an exhibition, they have instead seen a full-blooded, evenly fought contest.

A string of penalties took some of the wind out of the Red Roses sails, while Canada's pack, containing an all-Exeter front row, managed to draw the sting out of the driven maul that was such a potent weapon against the Black Ferns.

So. A quick recap of England's autumn so far.

Two record wins, keeping their world number one status, against five-time world champions New Zealand.

And now a challenging 40 minutes against Canada. England have fairly brutal fitness training by all accounts, so we will see if Canada's lungs can keep up with their skill level after the break.

It's been an incredible debut for home-grown Heather Cowell and an entertaining first half for the Twickenham Stoop crowd.

Canada are no pushover.
