    England 15-12 Canada

England manage to get their maul into the 22 and then it gathers a bit of speed.

Claudia MacDonald eventually decides the backs need a go but the ball is dropped and England are pushed back outside the 22.

    England 15-12 Canada

I imagine few would have predicted record wins against New Zealand and a tough challenge against Canada for England this autumn.

All three games have been entertaining and unpredictable.

England are still trying to squeeze out more points before half-time as a high tackle on Poppy Cleall gives them another penalty. Zoe Harrison kicks to the corner.

It comes from a position of strength where England dropped the ball - a coach's nightmare.

    Sabrina Poulin

    Incredible.

Canada use their scrum as a platform and whip the ball left. Then it is all Sabrina Poulin. She darts between Lagi Tuima and Heather Cowell and covers around 30m to score in an impressive individual effort.

Brianna Miller cannot add the conversion, which could prove vital later given how close this game is.

    Zoe Harrison

More solid kicking from Zoe Harrison puts England in a strong position as half-time approaches.

    England 12-7 Canada

England go for the kick at posts given the scoreline. The Red Roses don't often have to do this - a show of the challenge Canada are providing.

Hannah Botterman looks exasperated as she is called up for causing the scrum to collapse.

It stays up the second time and Canada manage to get the ball out as they look to reduce the deficit before half-time.

They are attacking from deep within their half, though, and are eventually penalised on the floor.

Very nearly a video nasty for Sarah Bern. The crowd gasped as referee Hollie Davidson watched the dodgy grounding.

Much relief in the stands as the Scot eventually decides to let it stand.

She is a bowling ball at times, I love it! There is no way she should bounce off a player like that! She knows her way to the try line.

    All good, it's a try!

Zoe Harrison has no problem with the conversion this time and England have a five-point lead.

    Sarah Bern

And she's over! Or is she?

Amy Cokayne sends the ball to Sarah Bern and the prop looks like she's in a pinball machine, bouncing off one defender, then another and over the tryline. But the TMO wants to take a look at whether she had control of the ball.

Zoe Harrison kicks another penalty to the corner. Time to see what England can do in response to that try.

This time the maul gets moving.

Canada are building through phases now and make it up to the halfway line.

The visitors look buoyed by their score and are backing themselves with the ball in hand rather than kick it away.

But luckily for England a forward pass brings their attack to an end.

A bit of adversity might actually do England good before next year's World Cup.

They have won 16 Tests in a row and France are the only side to have come within 25 points of them in that run. The Red Roses need to be tested and that is exactly what Canada are doing.

    Let's see how they respond.

We have a game on! I'd be interested to know what is being said by the England team under the sticks right now. It is a big challenge now they are up against a bit of adversity.

The story of the half so far, as Dylan said - tit for tat. England playing too flat, but that was a brilliant finish from Paige Farries. Lovely stuff.

    Paige Farries (Con Miller)

Zoe Harrison's pass bounces off Lagi Tuima and into the hands of Paige Farries, who covers most of the pitch to score.

Now things get interesting. Scrum-half Brianna Miller adds two more points to give Canada the lead.

Heather Cowell tries to make something happen for England down the right wing again.

Then Zoe Harrison sends a kick over the top and Abby Dow claims it as the Red Roses approach the 22.

    But no, interception!

Both teams are a bit guilty of not completing phases, it is tit for tat. Someone needs to get hold of this game, get some territory and hold it for a while.
