Ireland are really testing New Zealand now, they just need to keep sticking at their game and system. The fitness and belief they have, they just need to keep fighting for those small wins.

    Ireland 17-18 New Zealand

Ireland have the ball just outside the All Blacks 22 here.

It's a bit stop-start and it's a kick to Sheehan....but he can't gather as the bounce of the ball deceives him!

Been told off for watching Ireland at the dinner table. It is the most important game in history. Ever. And it’s awesome. I’ll take my punishment. PS. I’m 49.

Ireland win the throw and here goes Bundee Aki!

It's a cross-field kick to Peter O'Mahony (?!) and he knocks it on as he goes to catch the ball.

It nearly worked. A surprise tactic!

Mack Hansen spots a bit of space and wins a 50/22 for Ireland. I don't think he meant it but Ireland will take it.

    A big platform.

Anon: Hopefully, Ireland can control the next 15 minutes and give the All Blacks the jitters. I reckon this'll be a one-score game either way.

We've had a bit of kick tennis to start the half as New Zealand manage the sin-bin period.

It's ended with an Irish line-out on halfway.

Don't forget, Ireland will have a man advantage for the start of the half with Aaron Smith still in the bin.

We've seen a shot of Johnny Sexton giving his team talk in the dressing room before the players came back out onto the pitch.

The biggest half-time message of his career?

It's not just the players who needed a breather.

I hope you were all able to take a step back after those 40 minutes.

Strap in folks. We go again. This will be massive.

    Craig Gilroy
Former Ulster wing speaking on BBC Radio Ulster

A very exciting first half with New Zealand firing the first few shots and a few moments of ill-discipline from Ireland.

New Zealand are winning the kicking battle so far.

We've just seen the Bundee Aki try again. What a finish it is.

He danced past three All Blacks and brought another two over the line with him.

Is he Ireland's player of the tournament so far?

Two quality quality sides here and the smallest of margins will make the difference. They are so evenly matched, this is going to be a really exciting second half.

For me, this is a night where we play Johnny Sexton for as long as we can because we need him to pull the strings.

After a pretty nervy start from both sides (who can blame them?), this one really cranked into gear once the All Blacks went 13 points up.

A place in the last four is up for grabs. Who can make it happen after the restart?

  20. 'We have a great game on our hands'published at 20:49 British Summer Time 14 October 2023

    HT: Ireland 17-18 New Zealand

    Andrew Mehrtens
Former New Zealand fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

I certainly wasn't feeling relaxed at 13-0 because really it was only one converted try. The penalties come and go for either side but it only takes Ireland one try to come back into it. It's absolutely no surprise. I think we have a great game on our hands.
