    HT: Ireland 12-3 England

That lovely moment before the match when Ireland wing Keith Earls - set to win his 100th cap from the bench - led out the sides with his three daughters.

Beautiful. That picture is a definite keeper.

  2. 'England can take positives from first half'published at 18:17 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Dylan Hartley
    Former England captain on Amazon

Sure, there are mistakes being made and there is a bit of rustiness but that's what these games are for.

England are looking a bit more fluid and there are positives to take away from this first half.

Tuilagi is getting involved which is great to see and George Ford is conducting things from out-half.

England's line speed has been great but Ireland are using that against them at times because they have done well to play with depth, get the ball wide and play intelligent rugby.

  3. Hansen brilliant, Ringrose magnificent - Lenihanpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 12-3 England

    Donal Lenihan
Former Ireland lock on RTE Sport

What a brilliant cross-field kick from Mack Hansen, he's had a superb game!

And that's a brilliant finish from Garry Ringrose, he had acres of space but he still had a huge amount to do and he did it magnificently.

  4. Half-timepublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 12-3 England

That's that for the first half as Ireland lead England 12-3 at the break.

Two well-worked tries, the first from Bundee Aki and the second from his centre partner Garry Ringrose, have been the difference so far.

Neither side is fully firing but it's certainly a good pre-World Cup warm-up.

  5. try

Another Ireland trypublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 12-3 England

    Garry Ringrose crosses for Ireland.

It was a beautiful, inch-perfect cross-field kick by Mack Hansen to Ringrose on the right. The centre still had a lot to do but he danced inside Freddie Steward superbly to force his way over the line.

    Fine try.

Ross Byrne misses the conversion, though.

  6. Sheehan forced offpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7-3 England

We noted that Ireland hooker Dan Sheehan was in pain and his match is over as he goes off.

Rob Herring comes on in his place.

Andy Farrell and the Irish fans will hope that Sheehan injury is nothing too serious.

That was a chance for Ireland to break but Ross Byrne's pass to Mack Hansen was too low and the attack is ended.

  8. Ireland getting great practice - Jackmanpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7-3 England

    Bernard Jackman
former Ireland hooker on RTE Sport

It's been a little bit clunky so far.

England do look a bit more match fit in the collisions but Ireland are getting great practice here. It's not that pretty but there are elements to this that are bang on for what we need as we look towards South Africa and Scotland.

  9. Sheehan in painpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7-3 England

That was an odd kick by Elliott Daly and it raises a big reaction from the Ireland crowd.

Now an injury worry for Ireland as hooker Dan Sheehan is in some pain.

    Ireland 7-3 England

Another Ireland line-out doesn't go their way.

Then a sloppy Ross Byrne pass give England a penalty in their own half.

  11. 'England struggling at breakdown'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7- 3 England

    Dylan Hartley
    Former England captain on Amazon

England look a bit disjointed at the breakdown - they are struggling. The referee is encouraging them to play the ball quickly but the English players are sometimes getting a bit isolated which invites Ireland to counter-ruck. They don't have time to set up a caterpillar ruck, for example, because Ireland are making their lives difficult.

Yet again Mack Hansen shows his composure under the high ball.

He and Hugo Keenan are enjoying themselves out there this evening.

An Ireland line-out doesn't go to plan but England don't take advantage as the ball totally cleared both lines.

Maybe some work to do in that area for Andy Farrell's men.

  14. England look sharp - Lenihanpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7-3 England

    Donal Lenihan
Former Ireland lock on RTE Sport

For a lot of these England players it's their third outing in three weeks, they look just that little bit more match sharp at the moment.

For 12 of the Irish team, it's their first outing of the season, so it does take a bit of time although structurally Ireland look good.

  15. Ireland to work on weaknesses from Italy game - Jackmanpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7-3 England

    Bernard Jackman
former Ireland hooker on RTE Sport

England have shown a willingness to go wide and that is something Scotland will do in the World Cup, so we need to taste that and test it and obviously that was a weakness for Ireland against Italy.

  16. Postpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Ireland 7-3 England

An unforced error by the Ireland pack gives England a scrum just inside the home side's half.

The possession stats are in favour of England so far. The points are Ireland's, though.

Ross Byrne deals well with a high ball and throws it inside to Hugo Keenan who looks to go on the attack.

A few kicks later and a mark is called by Byrne.

Then another great take by Keenan. He's having a good game in the number 15 shirt for Ireland.

  18. Missed penaltypublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

That's a disappointing miss by George Ford from the penalty and a let-off for the Irish.

England with a penalty and possibly a chance to get more points on the board.

And, yes, George Ford is opting to go for goal.
