There are a lot of tired bodies out there. It's been pretty bruising with some heavy hits coming in.

Ireland manage to steal the line out and they come again but it's knocked on and Samoa have it!

Ireland's maul is brought down but they come again....but it's held up over the line.

The lineout maul try from Ireland is a huge moment in terms of momentum. It's a tried and tested method and it got them over the line.

The experienced James Ryan and Rob Herring combine and the powerful Irish maul drives over.

The substitutions including Ryan, Herring and O'Mahoney may have helped steady the ship and had a great impact from the bench.

Ireland are camped on the Samoan line here. They have the penalty advantage....

How important is that going to prove?

The try was brilliant right from the outset, great movement. Rob Herring could have a vital role to play being Ireland's most experienced hooker now considering injuries.

Rob Herring has been a game changer here. He collects a sloppy Samoan throw and wins a penalty on half way.

Garry Ringrose is on for Jacob Stockdale, so they must be confident that Robbie Henshaw is fit to finish this one.

Ireland win the lineout and have the penalty advantage.

They made a mess of the next phase but Wayne Barnes brings play back.

Byrne moves the white jerseys into the Samoan 22, about eight metres out.

Tom O'Toole is the next man on, in place for Finlay Bealham.

Ireland have won a penalty and Byrne clears into the Samoan half.

McFarland is like a freight train as Samoa move from their own 22 to the Irish half. Samoa are eventually stopped but that was a flowing move.

There's more concern as Henshaw is hobbling after colliding with McCloskey as they looked to make a tackle.

Peter O'Mahony and James Ryan are all on the pitch as Farrell starts to empty his bench.

Ryan Baird and Iain Henderson make way. Henshaw is still on for now.

Samoa have put in an intensely physical performance so far and they have no shortage of energy.

The question will be if they can maintain it in the final quarter.

They haven't shown many signs of slowing down and have made a couple of really good line-breaks using direct carries and off-loads.

If anything, they look to be growing in strength as the game goes on. They are giving this game everything.

There's a bit of hot potato behind the Irish try line but Crowley manages to clear.

This has all got a bit scrappy again.

Manu almost gets away but he's chopped down by Ross Byrne as he races into the 22.

Ross Byrne is on for Jimmy O'Brien in the middle of all that, with Crowley moving to full back.

O'Brien was struggling after that earlier hit, so let's hope that isn't another injury concern for Andy Farrell.
