"I think we know what Steve Peters said to Ronnie during that break, something along the lines of "loosen up and go for your shots". What a yellow that was, and what a clearance. Game on. "

Selby is 47-15 in front but heading back to his seat. He rolls a red towards the middle pocket, although the shot does not have enough juice and the ball teeters on the brink, but remains on the table.

O'Sullivan ensures that all the final four reds are down the opposite end of the table to the cueball.

  6. Postpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 5 May 2014

Selby is 29-0 ahead, but there are huge roars of 'come on Ronnie' from O'Sullivan's fans after their man has a chance in the 29th frame. The reds are all at the baulk end so this is going to be tricky for the Rocket.

Stephen Hendry: "I think as long as you are in the conversation then you've done alright. That's what Tiger Woods says and I would agree with that.

What is going to happen tonight?

SH: "I can't see any change. Ronnie is starting to look a bit disillusioned. He keeps getting dragged back into the frames and Mark isn't going to make it easy."

"It was beautiful cueing there in that frame from O'Sullivan. While it is backs against the wall, he has nothing to lose. He can put his opponent in shock if he wins a couple of quick-fire frames."

During the 2008 tournament, both Ronnie O'Sullivan and fellow finalist Ali Carter completed maximum 147 breaks. The pair met in the final, but O'Sullivan eased to a convincing 18-8 triumph, equalling his 2004 result, after a streaker had disrupted proceedings.

  14. Ask Hendrypublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 5 May 2014

We asked you for your questions for Stephen Hendry. Here are some of the answers from the seven-time world champion.

Thoughts on this session so far?

Stephen Hendry: "I just think Mark Selby is imposing his game on Ronnie. I think Ronnie missed his chance last night when he missed an easy black and could have perhaps gone 12-5 up."

What do you think of Selby's style of play?

SH: "He is the king of containment. He is so difficult to play against and I can't think of a worse player to play against when chasing the lead."

Actor and TV presenter Stephen FryImage source, Getty Images

Actor and presenter Stephen Fry on BBC TV: "Last year's final was terrific for Ronnie but it was not sensational, but this will be whatever happens.

"The Crucible is the very centre of snooker, it's like super HD, you can hear them breathing and the mutters, you get the crowd, it's impossible to realise until you come.

"It's an endlessly fascinating game and never exhausted. Here you think you've seen everything and realise it is human shaped - no-one can ever master it as there will always be something.

"Ronnie just looks too cross by the way Mark Selby is playing, that it is unfair the attritional way he is playing. But it is not unfair."

Julian Milner:, external This reminds me of Ebdon v O'Sullivan in 2005, completely destroyed Ronnie's flow and game.

Matt England:, external Those of you saying Mark Selby is boring have no clue. This is the final. You do anything you can to win. Full stop.

Darron Boden:, external This is proper matchplay snooker not exhibition stuff. Some people don't know proper snooker when they see it.

"Selby's making 20s and 30s but it is masterful matchplay. It's like Ali v Joe Frazier. Ronnie is capable of turning it around, he is the best player in the world, but it will rely on Mark."

In 1971, Joe Frazier (pictured left) beat Muhammad Ali in a heavyweight world title fight, regarded as one of the greatest contests in the history of boxing. Frazier won with a points decision after 15 rounds.

But Ali won the rematch in 1974 and then the third fight, the Thriller in Manila, in 1975.

  19. Hope for Ronnie?published at 20:46 British Summer Time 5 May 2014

In the 1985 final, Steve Davis had a 15-12 lead over Dennis Taylor, but still lost. Can that give Ronnie some hope? If we do go to 35 frames tonight, it will be the first time there has ever been 12 frames in the last session of a final.
