However, if Ronnie O'Sullivan is successful he will go to number three in the rankings and Ding Junhui will become the first ever Asian world number one snooker player.

An excellent long pot from Selby helps him to a 47-24 lead against O'Sullivan. The man from Essex comes to the table with the cueball resting in behind the brown ball.

Mark Selby is back at the table in the 25th frame. Selby has only ever been in the world championship final once before, losing 18-13 to John Higgins in 2007.
The 24th frame was the quickest of the match so far, lasting just seven minutes and 38 seconds.
"It is the second year in a row we have seen a century break in the first game of the final session after Barry Hawkins's 127 last year."

O'Sullivan won his first world title as a 25-year-old in 2001. Defending champion Mark Williams was knocked out in the second round with a 13-12 defeat to Joe Swail. O'Sullivan went on to win the final against John Higgins, 18-14, the closest final the Rocket has been involved in.

"Ronnie would have been a lot more nervous this evening. The interval came at the right time for him and there is no better time to score a century. He looked to be absolutely buzzing."
Selby's lead only lasted for one frame. O'Sullivan takes the opening frame of the evening session to make the score 12-12. He makes a 100 break, Selby only had one shot and we are back level.
