    Frame 5: Perry 4-1 O'Sullivan

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

I didn't see this scoreline but it would be a shock if he won, not seismic like Leicester winning the Premier League, but Joe is an accomplished player and is full of confidence. Sometimes being the underdog does take the pressure off.

  2. 'Is Ronnie trying too hard?'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Frame 5: Perry 4-1 O'Sullivan

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

Ronnie looks pretty agitated. It looks like he wants this record title too much and is trying too hard.

    Frame 5: Perry 4-1 O'Sullivan

That century was the 24th of the tournament so far. We could well be topping those figures from 2016 and 2015 today, although that 31 in 2009 will take some catching.

The Rocky of the snooker world?

Well, Perry is certainly packing a punch today and O'Sullivan is on the ropes.

We thought Perry might be nervous, we thought he had no chance. Now he is 4-1 ahead with O'Sullivan in a daze. Perry makes a century break in the fifth frame - the first of the final.

His break of 115 leaves O'Sullivan wondering what has hit him. I'll stop there.

BBC's Dennis Taylor has just been speaking to the man who set up that epic trick shot, Shane O'Hara of the Allstar Sports Bar in Bristol.

The shot took about 11 hours to set up. So how do they get on with our trick shot - potting all the colours in the corner pocket off of three cushions?

  10. 'Too much expectation on Ronnie'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Frame 4: Perry 3-1 O'Sullivan

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

Perhaps Joe Perry was always going to play with more freedom and Ronnie would have too much expectation on himself.

Ronnie has won six out of 12 Masters finals and if he loses this final his strike rate in would be less than 50% which would be a strange situation.

    Frame 4: Perry 3-1 O'Sullivan

O'Sullivan will be kicking himself that he lost that last frame. During that fourth frame he did manage one great shot as he produced another excellent plant. He will have enough for a garden soon. Maybe.

    Frame 4: Perry 3-1 O'Sullivan (90-31, Perry break of 74)

Meanwhile, back at Alexandra Palace, we have a real story developing here.

Joe Perry, an 80-1 outsider at the start of the tournament, is now 3-1 ahead against Ronnie O'Sullivan.

He is getting more chances than he may have expected, and Perry's break of 74 gives him a 3-1 lead at the mid-session interview.

It is a busy day in sport, and, as always, we have you covered on the BBC Sport website.

Among your other sporting options today, you can listen to and read about the one-day international between India and England, while Arsenal have just started their Premier League game against Burnley, after Premier League champions Leicester got turned over 3-0 at Southampton.

In case you missed it earlier on today, both Andy Murray and Dan Evans lost their last 16 matches at the Australian Open.

    Frame 4: Perry 2-1 O'Sullivan

He has just one made great plant, and O'Sullivan has just made another, to dispose of a red into the bottom corner.

Perry knocked in 16 in the early moments of frame four, but O'Sullivan is now well placed for a heavy break.

    Frame 3: Perry 2-1 O'Sullivan

    Shamoon Hafez

O'Sullivan looks like he has finally settled but he was not happy that someone was knocking balls in on one of the practice tables behind the main table.

"This is the final of the Masters," he said as he came out of the arena. "It shouldn't be happening."

    Angry O'Sullivan.

    Frame 3: Perry 2-1 O'Sullivan

    Steve Davis

That was a nightmare shot for Joe, that missed black. That's a classic example where as a coach you would say 'make sure you know what shot you are going to play before you get down to the table'.

He needed to stand back up and select his shot.

But that's the first thing that's gone wrong for him so far.

O'Sullivan gets one on the board.

Perry, trailing by 58 when he came to the table, makes decent progress until he misses a pot on the black. It would have been some effort to win the frame, but O'Sullivan moves 2-1 behind.
